Rubicon Lockers and Sway Bar

About a month ago I upgraded from my 93 YJ to a really clean 2010 JK Rubicon 2dr. The Rubicon package I have comes with a button to disconnect my sway bar and two more buttons to lock the front and rear diffs. Ok, thats nice I guess. I was never really a fan of buttons. I've been offroad twice with it so far and the buttons are frustrating me. When I press the sway bar disconnect button it just blinks at me. To me that means its not working. The same goes for the diff lockers. I was able to get them to go solid by completely stopping and messing with the buttons until they remained solid. Is this normally the case for these features ? Do I have to stop completely each time and mess with them ? I did find out that for the lockers to engage I had to be in 4Low but the sway bar is still frustrating me.

You may nave to turn the wheel left too right wheel moving to get the sway bar to unlock and lock, takes abit for the gears to line up but it will flashing until it unlocks or locks after pressing the button.

Kinda reminds me of when I used to have to move my vehicle around to get my manual sway bar disconnects to line up on my TJ

The Lockers also require to be moving and not spinning the tires to lock and unlock.

I have no problems using either the lockers or the sway bar disconnects. Infact the lockers work alot better than my TJ Rubicon which which were controlled by air.

I've never really had any problem with either feature. I disconnect before I start wheeling.

From my 08 manual:

For axle lock the following two conditions must be met:
• Key in ignition, vehicle in 4L (Low) range.
• Vehicle speed should be 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
The indicator lights will flash until the axle is fully locked or unlocked.

For the sway bar disconnect:
Vehicle in 4 wd.

Note: The stabilizer/sway bar may be torque locked
due to left and right suspension height differences. This
condition is due to driving surface differences or vehicle
loading. In order for the stabilizer/sway bar to
disconnect/reconnect, the right and left halves of the bar
must be aligned. This alignment may require that the
vehicle be driven onto level ground or rocked from side
to side.

Ok so for the sway bar if I press the button and its blinking I should just continue driving while turning left and right until it disconnects ?

Correct, and don't drive too fast, you have lost some front end stablility to allow more flex.

Once again, from the manual:

Quote:
Do not disconnect the stabilizer bar and drive on
hard surfaced roads or at speeds above 18 mph (29
km/h), you may lose control of the vehicle, which
could result in serious injury. The front stabilizer bar
enhances vehicle stability and is necessary for maintaining
control of the vehicle. The system monitors
vehicle speed and will attempt to reconnect the
stabilizer bar at speeds over 18 mph (29 km/h). This is
indicated by a flashing or solid Sway Bar Indicator
Light. Once vehicle speed is reduced below 14 mph
(22 km/h), the system will once again attempt to
return to off-road mode.

Yes depending on the surface and what is in the Jeep there is a little bit of pre load on the sway bar, moving the steering wheel back and forth while driving at like 5mph should be enough to unlock the sway bar.
