seems like swapping the rubicon transfer case would be a great way to go for us newbies who did not do enough research and and bought jku's with 3.21 gearing. I have a 2013 jku with auto and am waiting to see how the OP turns on this.

I will certainly be doing the swap. Obviously, I will need to exercise patience in finding a 2012/13 rubicon transfer case that came out of an automatic transmission equipped Jeep. It may take some time but eventually I will find one. Thanks to everyone who contributed factual information to this thread.

You should also know the front case from the 5 speed auto is not compatible with the other JK TC's,however, the rear case and many of the insides are.

For what years are you saying it is not compatible...incomplete info is one the problems on this thread...for a 2008 the tcase is the same for auto and manual.

i'm confused too. what will work if anything with a 2013 automatic wanting to swap stock 2.72 transfer case for a rubi 4.10 transfer case?

OK to keep it simple if you have a 5 speed auto you can only swap TC with another 5 speed auto, Rubi or not.

Virtually everything else from a JK is compatible.

Now, to confuse things more...the 4:1 tcase on an 08 auto will fit an 08 manual and can be used to replace the 241 to the 241OR. The auto has an essentially empty tailhousing that mates up perfectly and has the proper spline output count according to another site....
edit...I will check the part numbers, but when I ordered mine from a dealer, I recall they were the same part number for 08 (not sure about other years).

Update! I found a Rubicon 4:1 transfer case out of a 2014 automatic. Needless to say, I already purchased it and it was supposed to ship out yesterday. I'll have it early next week and get it installed shortly thereafter.

I will still have a issue of the computer not recognizing the "new" low range gear ratio. I have spoke with Advanced Adaptors and AEV about this. Advanced Adaptors said that they have been working with BullyDog on a programmer that can program a change in low range gear ratio. AEV said they are working on it and hope to have it out soon. I plan to call my dealer and see if they are willing to do a re-flash for me. I know it can be done but not sure if they are willing. Since it is a factory option, there's no doubt they have the capability. I'll update this thread again after the swap is complete.

So then it sounds like a rubi X-case from an '08 6spd will fit a '10 auto?

If you're not outraged, your not paying attention...

Think about adding the teraflex 2lo kit to your rubi TC while it's out.
