Rough Country Stock JK Front Bumper Caps

Wasn't able to find any threads about these so heres mine.

I ordered from Rough Country's website.
Heres a link: Jeep Accessories - JK Bumper Caps

I wanted that stubby bumper look but wasn't ready to dip into my other project savings so here is a simple solution that looks pretty good and was an easy install.

Removed the shroud... that got trimmed too. Then eventually thrown away.

You'll put some tape or chalk on the bumper to make your cut line leaving just enough to pin the new caps onto.

Careful cutting the metal had a bend in it, hard on the ol' sawsall.

My cuts weren't perfect had to take another 1/4 of an inch or so off to get them to sit how i wanted them to.

soo...Cut em off, slid the caps onto the remaining bit of bumper on the side drilled some holes and put the plastic pins in.

If you do this make sure you drill through both layers of plastic or the pins wont sit flush and will be a pain in the rear to pull out to fix.

You'll notice the caps are a bit darker than the bumper and flares but i attributed this to fading. Some Armor-all brought the colors real close, the sun will do the rest of the work.

Cant decide if i want the shroud on or off, I'm thinking off. Tell me what you think.(edit: took it off completely)

also, ill add this in the original post too but the caps are a bit darker than the bumper and flares but i attributed this to fading. Some Armor-all brought the colors real close, the sun will do the rest of the work.

What shroud are you speaking of
The caps look good, they just came out with them in the past month or so

I vote to leave the shroud off. I have already pulled mine off. You might want to leave it on if you plan on doing any significant mudding and water work. Just thinkin'.

@ JLC08JK: the Shroud, under the stock bumper is a plastic piece that just covers the front end bottom.

Yeah Ill just take it off come tomorrow.

With it off it also looks like it sits higher because the shroud hangs a good 2 inches lower.

If only they had come out with these sooner. Now my bumper is too short for them.

I love it !!! Just ordered as set, I have Ome light coils upfront so can't really put a heavy bumper, I was about to try the bumper chop until I saw those, Nice clean look, should've been that way from factory !!!

Thank you rough country

Bumper caps have now faded and match up with the OE plastic bumper quite well
