Rotated Tires and found something
We've taken our 07 JK to the dealers 3 times for the front axle leaking, the last visit being last April and they finally found a piece of metal in there causing it to leak. So that was corrected.
Yesterday we rotated our tires and noticed when we put the front tires on the bolts or what they are attached to, moved slightly making a couple of the holes that the bolts go through not circular. We're assuming this shouldn't be the case. Now it's going back again this week to make sure that they didn't forget to tighten up something from a year ago. Bad timing, we were planning on driving 800 miles this weekend with it to NY. We don't want to be driving down the highway and have to slam on the brakes and the bolts brake off causing the wheel to fall off? Update: Just spoke to Dealer and I guess it's normal for it to have a little float in it. Phew! Thank you in advance for your thoughts/ideas.

First time I pushed on the rotors and they moved I also got a shock but I guess it is the way that they are designed on the JK.

So I wasted my weekend being mad that something else is wrong with the axles.

There's no difference in the JK rotors or wheelsIf there's ANY PLAY in the front rotors, then either the other side moves EXACTLY the same-or somethings loose, axle brg/tierod/ball joint/spindle/links The wheels do not have oblong holes and the HUB, STUD, LUG NUTS, should be TORQUED to at least 95 lbft-no play If they're steel wheels, they shouldn't have alloy lug nuts and if they're alloy wheels, they shouldn't have steel wheel lug nuts ![]() JIMBO |

It's good practice to check the torque on the lug nuts before every off road trip.

The tire/rim will clamp the rotors from moving... Don't worry.

They took in just to make sure and said it's "normal" what it's doing. Never noticed the other times we rotated the tires.
