recommended tire pressure for 35's

I just installed Toyo Grapplers 35x12.5x17 on 17x8 rims. I noticed the tires air pressure calls for 65psi cold. Was wondering what you all would recommend. I have them at 50 psi now and seems that the vehicle wants to keep pulling when hitting smallest of bumps. Thanks

That is the max pressure under full load. Run about 28 to 30 and go from there. There is always the good old chalk test. Make a chalk mark across the tire, drive fwd and then see if the entire tread width is making contact with the road surface...adjust accordingly. At 50 psi your JK probably drives terribly!

Yes bumps feel like bricks. New to all of this and have always went off of tire psi on setting them. So general census is to run around 30 psi.

must be D or E rated. The psi on the door is for stock tires of the exact same specs as what it had stock. Most run what people are saying here 27+-.

just went to get a rebalancing. Disc./tire said i was getting very good wear for how beat to hell these are in 16 months. still have 7/16ths to 1/2 16K on them. My psi has been 27psi and I do the toe in with a tape measure. Tires were so out of balance, i could tell was getting shimmy.

Off road with the rims you have you should be able to run as low as 9psi all day.

Ok. I am going to down them to 27 psi and see what happens. I am still running stock ball joints with about 24k. 35's have been on for about 800 miles so far but seems to want to wonder

Solution 1: drop your tire pressure to 26-28 psi
Solution 2: add another 5,000-6,000lbs to your curb weight to correspond to the 65psi MAX pressure rating. If you go this way, I'd recommend bricks or plate steel.

This is good advice. Just leave the top up if you do steel so it doesn't rust.

or prep and paint the steel. You could also use lead if you've got connections, that makes up for space savings as well!

Um even with top on it's gonna rust - its a Jeep, not sealed up like a submarine!

4 tires at 3195 per tire @65 is 12780 total so needs to add 7650 lbs (unless you want to count the spare). I would use a water tank - 917 gallons will do it. This also gives you the ability to live if you can't climb out of the desert.

5100 (average curb weight) divided by 4 tires = 1275 per tire.

1275 is .39 of tire's max weight total of 3195.
.39 of 65 psi is 25.35.

25.35 is lowest PSI you want to run @ full load... for highway speeds.

That number on any tire is not a recommended psi number. It's always a max psi number that in 99.99% of all cases should never ever be even remotely near that high.

I know what you're saying - and you are almost 100% correct.

but its a MINIMUM psi at MAXIMUM weight. That MINIMUM is what confuses everyone... the PSI itself is neither minimum nor maximum! A good example is if that tire WAS carrying the max weight. Fill it to 65 and drive 20 miles at 70MPH. It will be at or above 70PSI - and SHOULD NOT BE LOWERED as the minimum PSI at stated weight is COLD.

No no, for safety reasons, you should never exceed the max psi (cold) at any weight. I think you're confusing max psi with max load psi, which can be two different numbers.

Sorry. Aired down to 28lbs psi. Was joking and said picked up pallet of cinder blocks on way home with50lbs psi and drove like a caddy. Haha hopefully the new air pressure will work
