Rear License Plate Screws

Do I see correctly that the rear license plate and -frame is held only by two screws? What have you done to attach it with four?

Yea, it confused me at first. Then I saw that you just slide the plate into the clips on the right and screw it in on the left. It aint goin anywhere.

Strangely enough, my front plate only had two screw holes for the bottom of my plate. It always kind of hangs forward. It's not very sturdy. I was thinking of drilling holes into the bumper so I can attach a couple more screws.

If you manage to lose the license plate with the screws in, then you've probably just lost most of the mounting hardware too. I think she's sturdy enough.

By the way, those screws are 7mm and a ***** to get to. I ended up taking out the bumper bolts to slide the bumper back to get those license plate screws out (:

Your thinking of the wrong screws. You're thinking of those 2 little suckers that are under the license plate box. The OP is talking about the 2 screws that hold the license plate to the box.

It's quite a robust arrangement and the Cool Tech antenna mount kit makes it even more sturdy:

Anyone else having problems with those screws backing out??? After I put on my bumper the screws backed out 3-4 times and I would begin to hear the mount rattling on the bumper. Finally I used silicone and locktite and haven't had any issues since.

I dunno - seems like the top of the tail light would be a better choice. A little more height, plus it doesn't block the side light at all. I suppose it could cause problems with swapping tops - but you could always remove the antenna or light when doing so (:

I only have one holding my plate in. It has the tabs on the other side, so thats all it really needs. Solid as a rock.

I hate the way that thing is designed. You can't (easily) put a clear license plate cover over it the way you can on the front. I can see myself making a new rear plate holder at some point, just so I can do this. Not my biggest priority at the moment though.
