Rear Bumper Recommendation

I'm looking for a new rear bumper/tire carrier for my 07 JK. The stock tire carrier makes the tailgate rattle and I'm worried it is going to ruin the tailgate.

I would like a rear bumper/tire carrier combo that:

1. Has one-hand operation (swings the tire carrier and opens the tailgate at the same time).

2. Includes a receiver hitch that attaches to the frame or allows the stock receiver to be used.

3. Has mounting points for a hi-lift jack.

And of course it has to be a strong, well built unit.

I saw a Smittybilt XRC on a jeep and like the looks of it, but it swings independent of the tailgate.

So far the only one I have found meets these requirements is the Bestop HighRock. Anyone have experience with this one?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Just to add to your list....

Make sure it has D-ring mounts (shackle mounts). If you get in the nasty, you want to know you've got a good point to get pulled out from !!

LOD makes a good one. Helldorado is right about the PSC. Opt for the $50 option and get the shackle tabs...

There is other options though.

Take a look at the ACE Carrier:
http://www.krawloff-road.com/product...jkpsrbtcfl.htm

They run a think, more heavier duty steel than everyone else. They run a 1/4" comparied to a 3/16". It's carrier is rated up to a 38" tall tire but you can go bigger if you want. You can get it with or without the LED backup light provisions. It has a intergrated receiver for towing that has the same tow rating as the stock JK. It also comes powder coated! The LOD comes powder coated but ones like the PSC does not.

The nice thing about the ACE Carrier is that we have it for only $975.00 shipped! I have been running it for a while now on our 2013 JKU with a HEAVY 40" on there and it works great! No rattles and my wife can kids can still open the tailgate without any issues!

If there is anything we can do to help, just let us know my friend!

1/4" plate is a lot of weight.

^^^ I agree. Most aftermarket bumpers are heavy enough made from 3/16 which when properly constructed is plenty strong.

The one I run is all 3/16"...weighs in around 120lbs. I assume thats probably close to all full widths at that thickness and material. A little google research says the added strength of 1/4" puts the ACE one at 190lbs. Neither of these are with tire, just carrier/bumper.

ACE has a good product, so I guess you have to weigh (no pun) the pros and cons of all of them.

I use the AEV stuff- not rock-crawler tough but plenty tough for the exploring and trails I do. I avoid over-built stuff because it adds weight and is of no use in my case. I do like the Expedition One bumper a lot too. I also second anything from LOD or Shrockworks.

True, the ACE one does weigh a bit but the 190lbs is the shipping weight. I would not put the bumper with carrier at that much.
