Rear Bumper/Carrier Integrated w/Tailgate

I tried searching.... not a lot of info, and there are only a few manufacturers that do single motion carrier/tailgate opening from what I can find. I am trying to compile a list for my own personal eval, but thought others might find the list useful.

AEV - http://www.aev-conversions.com/shop/...e-carrier.html
$1700

Poison Spyder - http://shop.poisonspyder.com/JK-Rock.../17-62-020.htm
$1500

Rock Slide - http://www.quadratec.com/products/12059_0100_07.htm
$1300

Can you add any others to my list/point me to where this topic has been discussed? Don't care about price at this point. Just want to research so I know as much as I can before selecting.

Thanks!

ACE does one as well. I have one from them. Heavy, but well built and nice.

What about the Teraflex tire carrier and adding your choice of bumper?

The ACE and the TeraFlex is our two top selling carriers for the JK! If you have any questions about either one, please let us know!

AEV is the bomb. Expensive, but it is very smooth, strong, slick, and handy. Just IMHO.

I have the AEV one and am very pleased with it. I especially like that you can add the fuel caddy (10 plus gallons of gas) and now they have a water caddy too.

I've been looking at the poison spyder and it seems to have a lot of nice features, but the ACE looks pretty good as well. On the ACE, when the tire is closed, is it solid against the tailgate or does it rattle? The PS one is very solid from watching some videos on it.

I don't have a rattle with my ACE. It does take a few tries at adjusting the hemi joint to get it all lined up, but otherwise it was easy enough to do.

Only issue I had with the ACE rear bumper was putting it on by myself. It's a little heavy from that stand point.. and then putting the spare on/off/on/off/on/off as you validate everything and make sure the bolts are all tight.

That bumper let me know I'm getting old! heh!

I had the Ace one, and then I switched to the TF. The TF only weighs 46#, and it is beefy. The Ace tire carrier is stout, but it weighs 190#. Then you add the weight of your tire, and now you have 300# hanging off the *** end of your Jeep. Ace makes wonderful products, but they do weigh a lot. The TF allows you to choose which bumper you want to run. I can't speak for the other manufacturers, but from the prices you posted, it looks like you can get the TF carrier and have $1000 left over to pick a bumper with for the same price you would pay for the AEV one.

TF = $699.95 and only have to pay to ship 46# http://www.krawloff-road.com/product_p/tf-4838150.htm
Ace = $885 and you have to pay to ship 190# http://www.aceengineeringandfab.com/...rier_p_83.html

I like that one a lot. Looking for solid and well done construction. Warn has one that is 1/8" in some spots and 3/16 in others... doesnt say where, but priced it in the upper end anyway. I have a good powder coater I use, but I like the option.

My big thing I like to see is the wrap around on the corners. I have PSC crusher tube fenders and when the pinch seam on the back 8-10" is exposed, I think it looks like sh*t. This one has a bigger wrap than I like, but the tailgate syncronizer is beefy from the picture and the spindle on the bumper is the biggest I've seen.

Putting it in consideration, but I do want to get all the options together in this thread for people to browse as a starting point.

thanks

Teraflex is not really in the product type of what I'm trying to put together. It is more of a tailgate re-enforcer and not a bumper/carrier option. Even though they call it a "carrier" it is really a "tailgate spare tire mount". MHO

Weight at this point is secondary to strength, so I'm not going to throw out a bumper option for weight unless it is just way heavier than all other options.

The issue I would have with the zerk fitting on the ACE carrier is that it is not weather/crud proof. Thats my only complaint. Built well and the nylon cradle ensures rattle free funtion. It may not for the first couple years but eventually that zerk is going to squeak like crazy. Looking for something more like last bumper I will be buying. Others will have different motivations, so going to try just list the facts and not make suggestions.

Warn - http://www.warn.com/truck/mounting-s...er.shtml#_self
$1300

ARB - http://www.quadratec.com/products/12000_1011.htm
$1375

HyLine - http://www.quadratec.com/products/12005_8920.htm
$1320

Couple other options I found.

Once I get them all together, I'll do Pro/Con

The ACE does not rattle. It is rated for up to a 38" tire and we are running a HEAVY 40" tire and beadlock on there with zero issues.

Are you referring to the zerk fitting or the spindle? You can always cover the zerk or spray it with WD-40 to keep the dirt and stuff off it. For the grease, we recommend a marine grade, water resistante grease.
