Random horn

So Blue sky when I leave for work doors off and top down, halfway through the morning I look out the window and it is pouring. By the time I get out to the lot it is pretty soaked and water pooling everywhere. No big deal dry her off and air her out and she is good to go. Later I stop at my favorite barbershop and while I am getting my hair cut my horn starts going off. It starts and stops several times during my haircut.

My question is has anyone whose Jeep has gotten wet had the same problem or could something else have caused this. Hasn't done it since yesterday so I am thinking water may have caused a short?

The same exact thing happened to me. Went into a friend's house when it was sunny and next thing you know we're in the middle of a thunder storm. I thought that the worst thing would be wet seats, but on the way home at 1:00 a.m. my horn starts blasting and won't stop. I shut off the ignition and started the Jeep again and the dash lit up like a christmas tree. The horn stopped, but the air bag light stayed on and the cruise control would not work. I got home and went to bed only to wake up to the horn going off again at 4:00 a.m. I had to go out and pull the fuse. A few hours in the hot sun the next morning and everything went back to normal. I did a search on some forums and this appears to be somewhat common. I cannot believe that a Jeep is not designed to be at least somewhat water resistant!

Ive been up since 230 am bc of damn horn. I too immediately pulled the 2 horn fuses from the fuse box, but have been searching online to find out if others have same 'ghost' horn issue and whether there is a wiring problem, etc from factory? anyone?

same exact problems due to rain

also pulled fuses

it hasnt happend to me after i have kept my drain plugs out....strange i know but maybe the water pooling up allows it to splash when new drops hit it and get into a weird spot....honestly though its a friggin wrangler it should have been designed better

I just flooded my horn. It doesn't make too much noise anymore. Now I just can't honk at people.

in the steering wheel and column is the steering control module, clock sping, it pretty much controls everything in the dash and on the steering column, it doesnt like getting wet

chance of rain flip the top up while parked, dont have to put windows or doors on but the top up will pretty much keep the electronics dry and take what 2 minutes

I have had this with my YJ but only when I washed the engine and water went through to the fuse box

fluke from the water

you guys have me convinced its rain/water related. I took it to dealer to check her out as per computer, clock spring, etc --- and of coarse --- everything checks out perfect. have been trying to put the top up as per rain to keep her dry and so far -- no more issues. still you would think damn wrangler be waterproof right?

My sons did that and the windshield wipers would go on and off and squirt washer fluid. The check engine light would come on. Took it to the dealer and they reset it. A week later it does the same thing when he comes out after school and puts the key in the door. we don't have keyless and it horn beeped. Started it up and it did it again. Horn beeping and windshield wipers wiping and fluid squirting. I drove to the dealer 20 miles away with horn unplugged. They had to replace some electrical box. Haven't had the problem since.

it happens every time my jk gets wet. you might even experience your engine not shutting off when you turn the key and pull it out. I think in the past three yrs i have experienced all of the shorts a jk could have due to getting too wet. get to know your service manager very very well. i have replaced mt mygig twice and few other parts due to rain issues.

this summer i had the chance to pull the dash apart and let me tell you all the connections have rusted and i have sanded and replaced much of the rust i could. i know keep the top handy so it doesn't get to wet and for those who have heated seat, watch out! i had to replace the module twice due to short in the rain.

it's these thing i wish i had my old cjs. most of my cjs got wet all the time and most of them didn't even have tops.
