For those seeking proof, I just confirmed it. Using a set song (CD player) and a set volume level (20), I took readings from a fixed location (driver's headrest) using a free decibel meter app on my phone. 8-10 db avg difference. If I can borrow someone else's phone (mine is also my camera), I'll get some video of the recording. What a hilariously stupid feature to build into a car.
Just did the same test. It sounds like the sub woofer is totally off. And the rear speakers are 20-30 percent quieter. I think the difference is dramatic. I ran witness the stereo always set at 30 now 20 on side streets and 30 is my new max.
Don't believe it, start the JK with the top off, set the stereo to 20, stand at the rear bumper and put the jumper in and out.
I litterally am going to home depot now to get the jumper parts. Do they sell the jumper or do I have to make it?
I'm using a 50 cent 1 amp blade fuse. that I twisted the spade connectors on. If you spend more than 1 dollar on this mod you are doing it wrong...
actually you could do this with a 1 inch piece of solid copper, insulated wire with 1/4 inch stripped off each end. as long as the gage of the wire is thick enough to hold in the slots. maybe 14 or 12 gage?
I just put new speakers in my JKU along with a lockpick, uconnect mic, backup cam, and a rear headrest monitor for the kiddo. When to turn on the HDD and blast some music and thought I had wired something wrong! Looked it up on here, found this thread...and voila! Loudness and bass are back with a 10 cent fuse! Thanks JF!
Mine is louder unplugged.Anyone else"s radio do this? The production date is 12/2013 with the 430 radio.Just for giggles I took a fuse and plugged it in and out and was louder with the fuse out. Also just plugged and unplugged the hard top acc. plug.Louder unplugged.
