This baffles me. I still don't know what to think of it. Still waiting on a few more confirmations before I get the will to do this.

Forget making a jumper wire, simply use a fuse. Someone on the WF came up with that idea and it worked. Scroll through that WF thread and you will see pics. I posted some myself.

Hard top of louder?

Just bend the prongs about 45 degrees on a fuse and use that as a jumper.

I was taking off my hardtop on my 2013 JKU with the radio on and unplugged the harness and yup the radio volume and bass got softer for sure. Time for the fuse trick i guess.

Ok. Ok. JTphoto can you post a write up or some more pics?

Also, if the comp notices the hard top is disconnected and turns the radio down does it also stop the rear washer fluid hose from squirting if the knob is turned? And will this trick make the jeep think the hard top is on? Or is it for radio?

My head hurts

Just look a couple posts above you see the photo of the fuse pushed into hardtop harness plug. It just bridges between the purple/white stripe wire and the black... You can use a wire jumper or twist the blades slightly on a micro fuse so they line up with terminals in the plug..

Just did the fuse trick. I connected it a few times to see if there was a difference and there is. I have the stock unit with the infinity system and you can really tell once the volume is up past 24.

This was one of the quicker "mods" to date.

Well this might explain why my stereo seemed to have lost some oomph since Spring. I just figured the softop was a lot louder so I had to turn it up higher.
