Question about rim sizes versus stock breaks

Hey , My buddy has a JK Rubi and wants to get smaller rims. He has 17" stock and wants to go to 15" or maybe 16". Is it possible? Will the 16" or even the 15" fit with his stock caliper and disks?

Sometimes it depends on the backspacing of the new rims. But pull the wheels off and take a look at the calipers. If there is room for smaller diameter wheel... then there is room.

X's come stock with 16" wheels. Most are upgraded to 17", but the bone stock wheel is 16". So there is no real issue with 16"

I have 16" steelies with 4.5" back spacing. 15" seems to be hit or miss- some rub the caliper, some don't.
