Push starting

I've attempted to start my 15 JK from a roll, but it doesn't seem to be working. Can these Jeeps be started from a roll? I've also noticed that the clutch needs to be depressed to start it. None of my previous manual Jeeps needed that.

In the Owner's Manual, it says you have a clutch switch that prevents the engine from cranking unless the clutch is depressed to the floor.
That switch will prevent the starter from cranking the engine. It should not prevent you from push starting by popping the clutch.
The switch is disabled in 4lo so if you're stalled in mud/water, so you don't have to push the clutch to crank it over.

What gear are you in when you try to push start it?

Like someone else reccomended use a higher gear (2nd or 3rd) and get a good start, preferably down a hill. The JK will pop start, I've done it two or three times.

It makes sense to try a higher gear. It's awesome that the clutch switch is disabled in 4lo. Thanks, guys!

I should have figured it would be more difficult to roll start than my old honda (I could do it in reverse at 3mph), but I didn't want to damage anything if it weren't possible on the Jeep for some reason.

If you have to push start a 2015, you've got issues.

I'll drift the Jeep around the house and start it around back at 4AM when I'm leaving for work to avoid starting it beside the window where my wife and baby are sleeping. I usually park out front but occasionally I'll forget to move it the night before. By the time I let up on the clutch and the motor fires up, I'm gone and nobody is woken up.

Push starting a 4400 pound Jeep is going to be just a tiny bit different than my old '76 celica where I could actually stick my foot out and push it backwards with enough force to pop it.

That's funny-

I don't have any reason to "push start" my JKUR-

Maybe you'll need a different exercise program-
