Rock Crawler Project Update...PICS

. .

I got tons of messages to repost my pics. I am reposting all the eye candy you can oogle over. I only ask (as to why I took them down before) that we keep the slamming to a minimum. I've seen the pics copied and posted on other forums only to hate/slam on again, so please, just keep to a co-jeeper respectfully...

Here is the buildup...all done myself...(and no Im not a jeep shop....and not trying to steal your business) a modified 4" (temporary) Skyjacker suspension in the rear and 7" in the front, RE 5.5 ordered for Jan 29th shipment and Rancho RS9000's going in this week, 38.5 x 16 Super Swampers on 15" Rock Crawler wheels. Stinger is 1.75 DOM .134 wall, exo cage is 1.5 HREW .125 wall, spare tire mount is hinged at the bottom and pined up top to swivel down. Exo cage was design for body damage only, not to support the weight of the Jeep. ICOM tranceiver, Uniden CB, and TomTom GPS. Hardtop sold, interior carpet removed, and Warn 9.5ti with PIAA's up front. K&N intake modified from a Jeep Liberty (all that was avail in Nov.) and glasspack/Magnaflow exhaust. My favorites in order; Rocks, Trails, Snow, Water, mud.....then wife, kids, etc., etc...Jeep is NOT daily driver, towed only.

BTW, if you right down the pic number and pm me your email, I'll send you the high res pic (1-4mb) if you need wallpaper or to photochop your tires, wheels, color (must be trimmed to fit your monitor) note: at your own risk, no liability if you knock off a liquor store...

Here is the first trip to Pismo.

Next trip to Frank Reines

This was to Hollister

This is Bear Valley. By now I modified the front suspension 3" higher to level out with the weight of the winch up front. This day I was the camera man so there are only a few pics of my rig.

Thanks for sharing, RockHog.

Not only is the work you've put into your JK impressive, so is the effort you've made to document it. An outstanding job on both accounts.

Every build project has its strengths and weaknesses. Now that you've seemed to have reached completion, what do you think are elements of your JK that are working well? Conversely, what would you do differently if you were to start over from scratch?

Thanks,
Bill

It wouldnt be so hard to look at if I wasnt waiting 3 months for the EXACT same rubicon, colour and everything. The fact that you tow that and not drive it, twists the knife even deeper. I need to roll like that damn!

I love the cage and it makes me want to do something like that now.

And looking at those pics, im thinking liquor stores would be pointless. Would need a few big banks.

Have you tried driving that on the hwy to speed? Is it scary? Deafening? Gutless? Gonna do anything to the engine like supercharger?

Can I borrow 200k?

Awesome pics!!

Love the way that they look. I would love to see some of your better wheeling shots showing in the RegisterySection (hint-hint).

What was the time frame from when you bought the Jeep till you had it in its first offroad session? Any issues with those lifts at all?

Rock, I wouldnt give a Frogs Fat A** what people think or how much they hate on your rig. the bottom line is your Wrangler is bad to the bone IMHO and all the haters would trade rides with you in a second!

Very nice pics! Do you happen to have any of the interior with the carpet removed?

Did I mention I got the "DEATH WOBBLE"

Yup, damn swampers. Since its not a daily driver, and always trailered, I took it for a ride the other day for the first time offroad and couldn't go over 30 with the Rubi self destructing.

I think I'm going to have the tires trued and re-balanced again.
Otherwise, I dont know if I'm going to change tires or what. These are my 6th set of Swampers, all of which ranged from 35" to 40" and never had the wobble. I've heard thats its all luck with the tires, and I guess mine's ran out! Any other suggest would be appreciated.
