Chrysler is still bringing up the rear when it comes to automobile quality in the U.S. They're struggling. And then look at this - http://www.pentastars.com/engines/tech.php It sounds like a terrific engine, but simple it isn't. It's sophisticated, complicated, moreso than anything they've done. That they would have trouble pulling this off (both without Mercedes and with Fiat) seems quite predictable to me - now. They jury is not still out on this - Pentastar is off to a bad start.

See, I think it's a great engine, and I'd be willing to bet the overall amount of failures is quite small.

Also, there is not a single engine in production today that doesn't have a few problems.

The problem is forums.
Everyone will sit down and type when they have a problem...but not so much when things are great.

I've got 1500 miles on my 2012 Unlimited Rubicon, and I'm most pleased.
Not a single regret.

I paid 32 for mine and that included all the bells and whistles so unless its got a lift and other features I don't its way over priced. I'd find out what all is on it and then look it up.

It's bone stock other than all the premium upgrades. It must be a misprint

I have a 2012 Rubi 2dr. Black Forest Green originally on order at the dealership. It was going to cost me 34k before taxes, licensing, etc...Oh and it was fully loaded, everything...leather heated seats, tow package, power package, 730 Nav, all the bells and whistles

It is still on order but I took my deposit back because the dealership had one of the last Sahara Tan 2dr. available (not a rubi, but I already have my 2005 rubi) so went with the 2012 Sahara Tan 2dr. sport instead.

45K is not a price I would even look at for a 2012 rubi 2dr.

That's what I thought too. There are no rubicons two or four door with in 100 miles of where I live so I am assuming they know this and just jacked up the price. I remember yrs ago my dad sold Chevys and they came out with a new corvette body style and the dealers were getting 10k over sticker

Do a build of the rubicon of what you want (on the Jeep website), bring it to them with the price print out and tell them you want this ordered.
I did that and my dealer took $2500 off the price of my online build print out.
If they don't like it, go to the next dealer.

Oh I'm not interested in buying one now just did a search to get a price idea that one popped up and I said wow I may have to rethink this lol

I mostly noticed it when at idle or when slowing to a stop. I did not notice it getting worse when throttling it.
