I figured that it had to do with regulations, but there's got to be some European aftermarket product that looks better.

No way! The gap is fine. It looks like a Wrangler with separation there. The curve to connect the two looks ridiculous!

Just slap an aftermarket bumper on and be done with it. Even the optional Mopar bumper with integrated winch looks cool.
