Popping noise under jeep

I have a popping sound under the rear of my 2007 JK. It only happens when I take off from a dead stop but not all the time. I have checked the rear pads to make sure they are not sticking. The Jeep is all stock with 95,000 miles now. Has anyone else run into this problem? Calipers? Any thoughts would be great.

With 95K miles, have you replaced your shocks? That would be the first place I looked. Check and make sure your trackbars and control arms are tight.

Maybe you should check out your rear drive shaft as well look for a rotting, cracked CV boot. I'm no expert but I've heard quite a few cars with bad CV axles that pop under load I'm wondering if this is the noise you're hearing.

Do you have the limited slip differential?
I had a pop sound that I believe was the l.s.d. unlocking or locking when starting from a dead stop. It didn't happen all the time and have never heard a sound since changing to a selectable locker.
Check all of the suspension components but if it is the l.s.d. there is really nothing you can do other than practice driving the way you do when it doesn't make the noise

Another thing to look at is the rear springs. Depending on how much droop you have the bottom of the spring can come separated from the axle side spring pad and the not seat correctly. It happened to me a couple of times and it would make a popping sound too.

Look at your control arms.

I have an 09 with 21000 miles on it doing the same thing it's not a constant as in it happening every time but it does happen frequently.

X2 on the rear drive shaft. Ours started doing that and a few weeks later it went out. I took it off and drove it in 4wd until the upgrade came in. Ours also has a 4" lift so we had to get adjustable upper control arms to eliminate driveline vibs.

I had popping in my KJ rear end with Trac-Lok. Turned out it was because I used synthetic gear oil. Switched to cheap regular dino oil and the noise went away.

Also check your brake shoes. If the friction material separates from the shoe it'll knock around in there after you sit still for a minute or two.

I was thinking the same. I had a Detroit TT LSD installed in my front Diff when I re-geared and I have the same sound. I have just learned to expect it. In my opinion it is well worth it when it matters, so the noise is not too troubling on the road.
