Pics of my JK finally...

Got it last month, but my wife dropped and broke our digital in the parking lot at the dealership, so this is my first chance at pics, here goes...

The first one shows the Thule "SpareMe" bike rack that had been discussed here earlier. I like it, doesn't prevent you from opening the tailgate with the bike on, doesn't seem to stress hinges at all with bike on, or with skis and snowboard.

Is that a spare tire mount rack? Based on the Thule website, I didn't think that they offered a spare tire mount rack. If they do, and you can get the ski/snowboard attachment, I am going to have to take back the Mopar ski rack that I ordered as it doesn't hold my boards. If you have the part numbers for the spare me and the ski rack, I would reaaly appreciate it.

BTW, nice Jeep, Congrats on your new family member..

How much weight can that spare tire mount hold? I have a couple of mountain bikes i want to haul around but I do not know about the tire mount. It looks like plastic.

thanks...

Thanks to jk above for putting in clickless pics, and as far as the spare tire mount, i will try to find the part numbers. I actually had it in my garage from when i had a TJ, and i tried it and it fits fine. I bought it on ebay for like 50 bucks including the ski attachment in 2001. Give me a minute and i'll see if i can find some info on it.

ps- not sure how much it holds, but i had 2 trek 4300 mountain bikes on it, and the door hinges were fine, door opens and shuts normally. Also had two pair of skis and a snowboard mounted with no door hinge issues.

rack info...

Looks like i have an older model of the Thule 963 model "Spare Me". My model has a number on it that says 853-1457 which i assume is the part number. the ski mount is #987. hope this helps. Ask me any other questions you have and i will answer to best of my ability.

ps here is a link to current model:

okay after more research, here is my exact version, model # 943

Thanks for the info UVA, I really appreciate it. I priced out the 2 parts and the best that I could get was $510 CDN plus taxes. This is a bit too pricey for me. I am going to stick with the MOPAR ski rack for $143 and I'll load the boards in the back when needed.

My wife noticed one of my previous posts where I had referred to our new Jeep as "mine". She was quick to point out that it was, in fact, hers. Anyhow, we get "our" Jeep tomorrow.

Great looking JK UVA. I have the 18"s on mine as well, but they really pop out at you on the 2 door. Look'n good!

stock tires...

Bridgestone Dueler A/T stock tire on stock 18" wheels, but I'm seriously considering putting 35"s on the stock rims, very soon. Just got my tax refund
