Ok I confess that I donít know what to do. My phone (iPhone 4) stopped working with the u-connect on my Jeep. Have no idea why. I tried to redo the device pairing but first I need to enter some security code.
When I picked up my Jeep from the dealer the day it arrived the sales man paired the phone for me and I have no idea what the code number he used is.
Do I need to go back to the dealer and have them do whatever or is there something I can do for myself. Thanks.
No I never even thought of doing that. Iím kinda afraid of deleting anything thinking that I might make it worse somehow. I guess I could give it a try but what to do about the code that I need to enter? I have no idea what it is.
When you pair the device to the uconnect it will give you a new pin to enter into your phone.
x2 on what others have said above.. if it isn't pairing anyways, delete the iPhone, then re-pair it. "List Phones" (I think) will list all devices that were paired previously (I had to do this recently, because I forgot the "name" I used to name my phone).
Like Drexelsteve said, once you re-pair it, it will ask you to create a PIN so that your phone can connect, start a search on your phone, select U-Connect, then enter the PIN, then it should ask you to "name" your phone.
I do have some good news to add here. When I got home I turned my Jeep off and then restarted it to see if for some strange reason it would correct itself. No luck, problem was still there.
Later this evening, about three hours (3) later I got back into my Jeep to meet a friend and low and behold it was working again as if nothing ever happened to begin with. I have no idea how or why it fixed itself but Iím glad just the same.
Thanks guys for the help and info; I will use it in the future if needed. I would have never guessed in a million years to delete my phone and start over. At least if it ever does that again Iíll just follow your guysí instructions and show it whoís the boss, I think.
One more thing;
I had no idea how much I was hooked/addicted to the u-connect. When it stopped working it was such an empty feeling, kinda like I was helpless without it. Damm, what is becoming of me?
Mine has lost the WinPhone connection a couple times so its not iPhone specific - lol.
TWICE my phone mysteriously went into Airplane mode - which breaks the pairing. Both times was after shutting off the ignition while still on phone and opening the door. The radio did not turn off until call was complete - but phone was in Air Mode when I tried to use it later...
The UConnect pairing code is 1234.

The wagon should, of course, be as light as possible, but strength should not be sacrificed to lightness, for on any but the regularly traveled roads, the wagon will get many a hard knock...
1) Normally what happens when an IPhone stops working with Uconnect, you need to reboot the phone. This is done by holding down the home & power buttons at the same time until the white apple appears, then release them. The phone will now reboot. Usually the phone has a lot of APPS still working in the background and need to be closed, the easiest way to do it is a simple reboot. You won't lose any of your phones content.
2) The pin code is only needed when you originally pair the phone. This pin code is a 4 digit code generated by the person who is pairing the phone. some use 1234, 0000 5678 or a pin code they use for other things. This code is not generated by the above mentioned radios, it is with the 730 & 730N though.
#1 will most likely be the fix for you, even if you have the 730 or 730N radios.
I have to reboot my IPhones at least once a month for issues other than just BT related problems.
You can also see the APPS that are still open by pressing the home button twice, you'll see all the icons below the home button, slide the icons from one side to the other, you'll probably see several of them. You can close them from that screen or just do the reboot.
