Pentastar Price?

Did a little bit of a search and couldn't find anything so I'll ask here.

Has anyone priced out purchasing a Pentastar with one of it's new tranny's from a dealer and thought about dropping it in a '07-'11? My Father and I where talking tonight that this would be a great opportunity for Jeep to make some $$$$ selling a smog legal crate engine/tranny combo.

You'd think the cost would be less than the current Hemi swaps taking place.

I think they had to do some stretching or rearranging because the new tranny is longer. I don't think it would be an easy task to swap in the pstar.

Its a good idea though and I'm sure possible with the right amount of money and frabrication skill.

The Pentastar takes every bit of the engine bay it is actually pretty impressive how little room there is in there now. Anything can be done with the right amount of cash but I would say if your going to swap something do a HEMI it has been done before.

Not to mention the electronic systems are different. it would probably be the same amount of work to do a hemi if I were guessing.

The cost of doing it would be nearly that of a hemi swap with only marginal gain.

River Raider has a diesel kit on their website.......

X2,

Besides dealing with electrical issues, you'd also be looking at cutting and welding in new engine/transmission mounts. Not to mention an entire new exhaust system, and I'm sure you'll need all new accessories (power steering pump, alternator and A/C compressor.).

It's like the old TJ saying, you're better off selling your 4cyl TJ and buy a TJ with I6 instead of swapping in a I6.

Why? Its the biggest piece of crap engine Jeep has ever made. 3.8L is the only engine Chrysler ever made worth anything besides the 4.0L but, that was AMC designed.

Having owned both a 2007 JKU and a 2014 JKU, I can honestly say the pentastar is better. I don't think I am alone in having an awful experience with the 3.8L.

Back to the OP, hemi, ls, or even an old fashioned 383 strokes with a carburetor are better replacement engine choices.

The panther diesel is also a very attractive option.

Unless the 3.8 and tranny are dead and need replacing I think you will come out ahead just selling and buying 2012+ used.

3.8 the best engine Chrysler ever produced.? That's funny. It's the first engine in many new cars I've owned that started burning oil before 100K miles. Started at 15K to be exact. Not saying it's the worst engine ever.
