passenger seat won't latch

My passenger seat won't latch in my 2007 jk. It will only latch when reclined completely back. Any thoughts on how to repair this problem.

there is a procedure to reset the seat. assuming it is a two door JK with a 2 lever seat.

using the bottom lever to recline the seat all the way back.
use the upper lever to release the seat and push it all the way forward.
with out touching a lever, push the seat back into the fully reclined position
use the bottom lever to adjust the back where you want it.

voila'. maybe.

and.. welcome to the forum.

I have had this issue as well. Like the previous poster I just kind of messed with it and eventually it fixed itself. Good luck.

I have this same sporadic problem on my 07. Yesterday I gave up after about a half hour of trying to get the passenger seat latched. It still would not work this morning. I took it to the Jeep dealer today and the service guy tried to operate the seat and as luck would have it, the seat worked fine on his first try. I'm sure the guy thought I was an idiot. I explained that the seat would not work. He was nice and said he has not seen this issue before.
Thanks kuday for the seat reset instructions. I will print out and try your trick next time the seat acts up. I'm suprised you would now about the "secret" reset trick.

Wish I would have read this BEFORE I took the seat out - the procedure worked perfectly. Thanks Robert

Thanks Kudah it's Voila

I would have messed with this for way too long. Thanks.

Try this:

Push the seat bottom all the way back, it will latch.
(May have to fiddle the seat bottom release lever until it does).

Push the seatback all the way back, it will latch.
(Didn't have to fiddle any levers).

Use the seat bottom release lever and
slide the seat all the way forward, it will latch.

Now use the seat back adjust lever (not the rear access lever)
to move the seat back up and it will latch.

Done! Could have spent a lot of time on this one
