Has anyone painted their hard top to match the body color? I have been thinking of it. I'm looking for pictures, advice, thoughts....

I have a '07 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4 Door (Red Rock).

Ive thought about it as well. My thoughts are you will have alot of red going on. Me, maybe too much Jeep Green. Not sure...? Maybe someone has pics.

Saw a black one with the top painted to match the body. It looked good, but since the top is already black I'm not sure what a different color would look like. May be too much? No pics, sorry, but it had been prepped and painted to a high gloss.

Try looking up Jeeps at the SEMA shows. I remember seeing a silver one there.

I think the Red Rock color on top of Red Rock body would look good. I'm not too crazy about the red Wrangler with the silver top. I also think the silver one is way too over the top...everything is silver.

I want someone else to try this and post pictures, dammit! I don't want to be the guinnea pig.

i think it would give it that Mercedes Benz Jeep look. Not bad if thats what your going for. I like it.

My buddy owns a car detailing shop. he has a connection with a body shop guy who he thinks will hook me up. I'll keep everyone posted.

I don't expect on doing any off-road stuff, so I'm planning on painting that top, adding some cool looking rims and pimping out that ride.

I bet it will show scratches easily, even if you don't go offroad. What I mean is when you take off and reinstall the top, every little ding will show more, especially if it is sanded so it is a smooth finish like the body.

Prot is right so then why don't you have it sprayed with Line-X (check for thread in this forum)? This is rather scratch resistent and they can COLOR match it to your vehicle. I will be doing this to my fender flairs and bumpers so that they have a nice even look.

Take a look at the top in this pic which was sprayed to match the fenders and bumper.

My dad owns a dodge dealership and he planning on doing this in the near future, i think they were going to do silver or red rock and add some rims and tires ill keep you guys posted, i thought he said that i was happening this month but im not positive. But i agree with eman1966 that jeep has too much silver, i dont think they will go that crazy, just match the hard top and add some beefy tires

i painted my top silver to match the jeep. it changes the whole look! I love it. It looks like a hummer h1, i think only better!! i could send pics if you give me your email.
