Painted Fenders on Rubicon Unlimited

Is there a way to get the Sahara painted fenders on the Rubicon model? I'm not sure if they are the same size or not, what about getting the Rubicon fenders painted?

Welcome to the forum, mrwhite1.

Yes - the fenders and the attachments are the same.

You can't order the painted fenders on a Ruby or X but you can buy them from Mopar and install them yourself. They are expensive. The cheaper option is to prep and paint the existing fenders.

Don't forget that the Rubicon fender flairs and the Sahara flairs are not the same. The Rubicon are more textured.

If you check it out, Jeeps with the painted fenders always come with the sidesteps. I was told that without sidesteps (which the Rubi does not have) rocks will fly up off from the front or rear tires and scratch the paint on the fenders.

The Rubi or plain plastic fenders flex a little bit more than their painted counterparts. (So I've seen)

Anyone ever see the Skunkwerks Jeep that was at SEMA 2006? It has a painted hard top. I was planning to do that to mine (whenever I do buy a Rubicon). I think it looks sweet. Changes the whole look of the Jeep.

Socal HEMI, welcome aboard! Great site here! Just remember that the jeep you linked too is NOT the standard silver for DC. It's ROLEX silver, why didnt Jeep think of that one? I mean doesn't Rolex and Jeep go in the same sentence?

Yeah... I'm after a Rescue Green anyway... but I still plan to paint my hard top Rescue Green to match. I personally like the black fender flares, but I have a Cherokee with black flares now, so maybe I'm biased

Ya, I saw that, it looked so good I painted mine the same as the body color.

I came across this photo somewhere, a Rescue Green X with a Rescue Green Hardtop, someone said it was PhotoShop, but I don't think so.

So if someone were to want to paint the hard top the entire thing would have to be sanded smooth?

That seems a lot of work?

Actually, it does look Photoshoped. Click on the zoom (larger) pic and you can see the editing along the top edge. Looks cool to me though...

P.S> Not sure it needs sanded to paint it. I was at SEMA and if my memory serves me correct, the Skunkwerks Jeep was not sanded. I don't have my pictures at work, but I'll have to look closely when I get home... for some reason I remember it having texture.

I'm having a hard time waiting to buy one, but I just can't justify paying for a new car when I can buy used for so much less.
