you'll find something in the search archives; I remember somebody painting the inside over a year ago. I think they used the Krylon rattle-can for plastic.
It looked good.
I recall them saying that the inside of the hardtop looked like a cooler...

Some people used the spray can truck bed liner. I opted for Krylon for plastic or some other plastic paint, because it was cheaper and I couldn't find enough cans of the Truck Bed Liner. It ended up costing me under $30 bucks and a few hours of my time. Somwhere there are some pics of it on the forum. I think Truck Bed liner would hold up better if you haul a lot of things in the back, but since I don't the Spray paint I used is holding up very well. Looks much better than white. Maybe if you've got a white Jeep the white would look good, but mine's black and it's a huge improvement.

This is something I definitely want to do sometime. It just doesn't look right the way it is.

Black. I've only ever seen the inside done in black. I'm not sure it would look good if you have rescue green and painted it rescue green. Might be overload. The black looks good in just about any color. Over on the other forum there's a thread titled something like blacked out hard top with duplicolor truck bed liner which shows quite a few people with different color Jeeps doing it in black. My JK happens to be black and I've gone to fairly great lengths to black out anything that can be blacked out and the inside of mine is basically either black or charcoal grey. I think if someone really wanted to get creative though, painting the inside hardtop black, but either doing the outside border their JK's color or the raised parts could look really cool. It's hard to go wrong doing it in black though.

Not the best shot, but it's what I had on hand. If nobody finds other pics, I've got the top in the garage I can probably snap one of it. The biggest problem is the flash reflecting. The parts in the above picture that appear white, are in fact reflections from the flash, as the only part of the inside of the top I left white as the part that rests on the tub. I just didn't see the point in painting it when it wasn't going to be seen.

QUITE NICE !

seeing what you've done, I'm know tempted to do the same, if I purchase another JK.

You mentioned you didn't paint it entirely, any pics of the tops off the JEEP and simply placed upside down on the ground? I'd also love to see a shot looking to the back of the rear portion of the Freedom Top panel (ie. the corners of the rear portion).

I think I perhaps didn't explain myself well enough. The entire inside of the top that's visible at any point is painted, but the part I skipped painting, that's still white is never visible, unless the top is off and sitting on the ground as it is in the picture. Between the flourescent lighting, it being dark outside and the flash, I got some pretty awful glare going on the top, so I cropped down the picture. What you're seeing is the underside of the hard top, where the back glass is (I've got an Unlimited). I just didn't see the point in trying to tape off the weather stripping on an area that'll never be seen.

I'm also including a picture of the top of of the top where it meets the freedom top panels, so show that every inch of that area was covered. The picture is terrible, in person the paint isn't remotely "splotchy" looking but using satin paint causes the pics to reflect some. I wanted the paint to match the other interior parts I painted (A/C rings, sides of radio stack (originally light grey), console sides, speaker rings).

The picture of the freedom top panel didn't come out much better. Now, these I did tape around all the weather strip and paint, and I removed all the hardware as well. Where the knobs turn and cross over the other panels didn't scratch or chip. Up close, some slight marring can be seen, but that's it and it's absolutely unnoticeable in the Jeep. And again, anything that appears white here is a reflection.

I found the closest shade of Krylon Fusion I could at the local auto store. A little too bright especially with flash, but good enough for me. I also tinted the interior light, because it annoyed me for some reason.

Exactly. It was very easy to do, and Krylon Fusion dries very quickly. I only needed two coats on everything. If you search you can find other pictures where they painted the sound bar speaker rings and even the speedometer background.
This is the thread inspired my interior, now you have me interested in painting my freedom panels.
