Oversize Oil Filter???

I am going to change the oil and filter in my son-in laws 2008 Wrangler.

I have always used the larger Motorcraft FL-A1 oil filter in my 05 jeep 4.0 engine, and in my Town & Country van 3.8 engine.

Some may argue the point but I like the extra filtering capacity.

I would assume I can use the same filter in the 08 Wrangler.......am I correct?

Not sure about the FL-A1, but I use a NAPA Gold #1516 which is longer then stock.

If it fits the T&C I'd assume it fits. I can't imagine Chrysler did anything crazy like changing the filter cross-platform on the same engine.

Edit: Well, shows what I know. They DID!

I guess the oil filter is located differently on the jeep 3.8 than on the T&C van 3.8.
I read on another forum that the larger diameter FL-1A filter might not clear the pulleys on the engine.

I will go with a FL-400s filter which is longer than the stock one but the same diameter.

M1-209 Mobil1 is the over sized filter for the 3.8 that's what I use
