Outlaw mirrors - dissapointed

Finally got my outlaw mirrors in, and pretty dissapointed. They seem to be pretty loose where they attach to the post, alot of wiggle and vibration, even after tightening.

Also, the passenger side is worthless, unless you need to see way over to the right, in the ditch as you drive. Wish I knew that it wouldn't adjust close enough in to actually see anything.

Anyone do any mods to them to make them a little more sturdy?

I agree 100%. The after market mounts all seem to vibrate and jump even though they are really tight. Must be because they mount to the pillar and not the soild door. Not sure?

I'll try, but don't think I can. See what I can do.

I have one of the 1st sets that were made and mine are fine. They vibrate a tad bit, but so did the cheapie Autozone ones I had on before - that ended up scratching the sh!# out of my A-pillar. I had serious issues with the nylon plug that was pressed into the set screw, but now that's ironed out, my outlaws are great

Are they worth $130 ?? I don't think so, but I like the looks and functionality of them more than relocating my stock mirrors.

you guys are picky... You should go ride a motorcycle sometime- those mirrors really vibrate. Think about it for a minute- stock mirrors are mounted on the doors, and the doors are pretty well isolated from body/engine vibrations and they are heavy enough to absorb vibrations that do get to them. So now remove the doors and mount mirrors onto areas that have natural vibration going thru them. Yup, they're gonna vibrate.

Ah- another rider. Good, you understand vibrating mirrors

Now... fit and quality should be correct. I'm with you there.

I don't mind the vibration -- not so bad (I do ride a Harley too ) I feel they fit rather tight.

I agree, the passenger side mirror does not tilt in enough to be in the perfect position for a tall guy like me and worthless for my short wife. I put one of those little round convex mirrors on it and it's OK.

Fit and finish seems good to me and I'm picky.

The nylon set screw is a bit touchy to get started. It wants to be in a thread or two but that is too far to slip over the hinge.

out law mirrors

are you still unhappy with these mirrors??? I just tried to order some for a JK directly through out law and have heard nothing back. They do not have a number on the website only e-mail??? Where did you get yours?
Also, you said the psgr side is useless? That was the reason I was told to order these because you could finally have a psgr mirror with the doors off???

I ride a sport-touring bike. The mirrors don't vibrate that much..my problem is that all I can see are my elbows.

The Autozone $15 Eurosport mirror I use doesn't vibrate at all. I just had to get used to how small it was when compared to stock. I also intend on placing it on the right side A-pillar to see if it is at all useful there.

And to protect the A-pillar, I had a sheet of 1/8" thick rubber gasket material. I just cut a piece out to match the base of the mirror and was good to go.

in this pic, if you look closely, you can see the red line of gasket material between the mirror and A-pillar.

I like my Outlaw mirrors. I only got them for one reason and that was to be legal when I'm doorless and they do that purfectly. I know they wobble and don't offer the best views but when I'm doorless and roofless I can see very well without even looking at the side view mirrors.
