to you guys that spray painted the muffler. Does it stink for awhile? like the paint burning off?

Use some high temp engine block paint and it won't burn off.

I may be slow, but did you put washers just under the front bolts?

Elsewhere it is mentioned to put washers under front 'and' rear. I just don't get raising the rear too.

This is absolutely true - and it helps to get it out of the middle of the damned windscreen. I don't see how people can stand to drive with it in the "normal" position.

But what about the dim little "map lights" on my new rear view mirror? How will I ever look at my map with them pointed up??
