Google around before you throw money away
I did the same thing with the one I sold, with direction from YouTube. There are no easy fixes I found for the slim...the E 82 error code on the new one is a bad video signal...both the component and hdmi outs on mine are bad. It will light green until a video cable is plugged in, and I verified that the cables were good

To each his own, I'm the exact opposite, I hate the Xbox controller.

Oh man I missed the part with the slim.

Slim is the newest style? I planning on buying the MW3 edition (gift cards) lol - don't judge me.

I guess you have to use your xbox to have problems with it! We have 2 in the house. A white one and a black one. I do good to turn in on once a week!

What game are you playing Mike?

Mine dies every time I move. RROD three times now. Soooo annoyed....

I've been waiting to buy FIFA 11, Madden 11, and GOW3 until the box got fixed. Now it looks like I'll be getting myself a new one for Christmas instead of a budget boost lift. FML....

To get back on topic here....
Don't know if you're still having the issue with your drag link, but I replaced my factory unit today (~$65 pitman arm end, ~$90 knuckle end) and the clunking I had in my steering had gone away. Apparently those ball joints actually need grease in them to work properly Here's a pic of the trashed pitman arm end.

I've got the new Slim now - but I had 3 others prior.

1 RROD - still under warranty, replaced with new
1 RROD - Self repaired using articsilver and machine screws instead of the X clamp (Worked for about a year until total failure - could not trade in due to my repairs, gave to Brother in law to try to fix)
1 RROD - Was able to trade in for credit for a slim because it "happened" to work when I got to GameStop.

New one has had no issues - just picked up Battlefield 3

I ordered a moog hd tie rod end for the RAM 2500, fits jk drag link at pitman ARM, from amazon for $17.xx plus like $5 shipping. Don't need to replace ends at knuckles, they're my new curries

Knock on wood dude, my e82 popped up for the second time, and permanently, on the slim last night as I was putting battlefield 3 into the tray for the first time. Don't feel as bad though, I hear EA was/is having big trouble with their servers for BF3

I hate to say this, as I have grown fond of hating on PSC...but to Larry and Dusty (or is it Dustin?) For quickly following up with me after a recent (typical) prod I took at them.

It seems as though it wasn't the company that failed to follow up initially, but a singular employee lending the impression that everything was taken care of. This wasn't directly said to me, but we all know I'm quick to make deductions and point fingers

A little late, but not the Boss man's fault. Appreciate his concern and hope its handled properly for the next guy.

This is why I love giant eagle

Bought $225 worth of game stop gift cards today for a new x box, and $200 worth of visa gift cards (yesterday) for a new vacuum cleaner, stuff I woulda bought anyway, and now have $2.20 off per gallon

forumrunner_20111028_095924.jpg

Xbox has a bad motherboard, by the way. The slim parts have not yet dropped in cost...$100 is the cheapest board I could find, and the guy will charge $50 to replace, though I could probably handle that job myself. Regardless, makes more sense to just buy a 4GB slim and swap in my 250 HDD. I'll repair the broken one when cost of parts come down
