Oil pressure control sensor

2013 wrangler sport. Check engine light came on and the code read engine oil pressure control sensor stuck/off. Auto parts store were no help of course. It will be a few days before I can get it to a shop and I still need to drive it. Does anyone know if this could damage the jeep if I keep driving it a few days?

No I'm not sure. I'm not very tech savvy. Wouldn't the oil light come on if it was oil pressure?

If the oil sensor is bunk the low oil pressure light won't come on either. Be on the safe side, Don't drive it till it's fixed .

I am assuming you are plagued with the oh so fun P06DD that I had in mine... There is a thread on this forum about it. Problem ranges from incorrect oil filter, to torn pick-up tube seal, to bad sensor, to bad pressure solenoid, and finally, like my case, a bad oil pump. From my experience (not saying its safe to drive or this is happening with yours) it is usually just a temporary status and turning the engine off and back on restores the Jeep from limp mode where it limits your RPM. When the issue arises again, it chimes and goes back into limp mode. To set the code, the oil just has to be below a specified pressure for a fraction of time after the engine speed passes 3500 RPM. if you never cross that thresh hold and the light still comes on, then I would be really worried.

If it were me, I would call the dealer, leave a message if possible and bring it in when possible so they are at least aware you are trying to be proactive.

Search "check engine light - low oil pressure" on this forum and you will see what I am talking about. I think someone from Jeep even posted if JeepCares is a representative, with a few pictures.

Thanks everyone. The check engine light is off now, but I'm still going to have it looked at.

Old thread, but my 2012 JKU is at the dealer right now. P06DD code last Friday. He told me probably needs an oil pump/solenoid assy, but called and said pump was operating correctly so they are replacing the oil pressure sensor...Which requires removing the intake,ect.. Not covered under warranty around $400.00 DOLLARS. hopefully don't throw another code.. He feels the pump is fine and working properly, we'll see I guess.. I only have 28,200 miles on it,bought new.

Well, been exactly one week since my "repair"....Driving to work this morning, engine light again appeared! Called the dealer, told him it was on again. Stopped at my independent service center near work, and he was nice to scan again.Came up as the same code, P06DD.. Called the dealer and he said there is only three things with this code, sensor (replaced for $335.38 last Tuesday) a small harness, and the oil pump/solenoid assembly. He set me up for a rental on this coming Monday night and will replace the harness and oil pump which he said was covered under warranty.5 yr,50,000 miles. Has anyone else having this code issue? I wasn't too happy they charged me the $335.00 dollars, and the same code appeared a week later.

I've had the same on my '12. Code has come up 3 times since January. So far they've replaced the sensor and the oil pump, oil pump switch and the cam sensor.

It wouldn't down shift and would drop out of gear around 3100 rpms. Frustrating.

I'm hoping it's finally solved. Fingers crossed.

I went through the exact thing you are. They replaced the sender/sensor, covered under warranty for no charge(I'd be looking for a refund on that). The very next day light came on again. They then replaced the oil pump/solenoid assembly, again under warranty. I have had no problem with the oil system since.

Hi Ed,

I'm sorry you're still having the issue with your Wrangler. Please reach out if you need any further assistance while the vehicle is at the dealership.

Thanks everyone, I will update next week after the pump is replaced and the wiring harness.. WONK, when was you pump replaced , and are you still "good"? And ya, I'm a little irritated that what they charged me for apparently wasn't the issue..I don't want to discuss the money issue with the pressure sensor until I make sure the pump replacement resolves the code...Then, I'll probably stop back in and see what they say.. They have my $335.00 now......I'll let the group know...Kori, maybe you can help, but let's see what happens next week...Has tis code P06 DD been an issue?
