Specifically I am interested in making it play DVD's while in motion. So I will need to replicate the signal the radio receives to indicate it is in park. So probably the pinout for the plugs and where they go.

The MyGig for the non Wranglers indicate aux. screens and controls for the rear seat passangers and the ability to connect video games and play them on that screen. I was wondering what would take to add this to the wrangler.

Thanks

I'll check tonight but I can almost guarantee that there is no such signal on an individual wire.

The radios in the JK communicate with the rest of the vehicle using the CANbus system. Basically a local area network. So something like the PCM will send a message to the radio about being in park or drive and the radio will work accordingly.

Here are the pinouts and pictures of the radio (from the Dodge Nitro which is the same radios as the JK):

So if this is true, then there would need to be a switch attached to the parking break wired into the bus that triggers a message. This is what we would need to spoof.

Anyone played with canBUS enough to know how to decode messages? The message format is like this:

I'd bet the 11bit (or 29bit) id field is unique to the brake, and the data-field contains "on/off" (i.e. probably a small field).

Any EE geeks out there have toys to read the messages in flight? It's been a few decades since I've had to read NRZ messages off a sniffer

While that might be true on manual trans wranglers, I have an automatic. I would need to replicate the neutral safety switch circuit. The E-brake on my JK does nothing with the DVD feature.

There has to be a workaround for this.

That picture is actually the radio to amplifier wiring. Are you asking about the radio connector "C2"? Here are the radio connectors:

That would explain why the colors didn't match.

Is #7 "amplified antenna feed" a 12v switched output?
Maybe it can be used for amplifier turn on.???

Has anyone tested to see if disconnecting the CAN bus pin does anything?
