Now it's my turn for a JK DIY snorkel build

If you search for JKTester on YouTube you'll probably find a video of me hydrolocking my Rubicon while I still had the dealer plates on. From that moment on I knew I needed a snorkel. The problem was that I didn't like any of the aftermarket stuff out there. I wanted something that came out near the windshield, not the hood. After researching I found one from Wildboar but they took too long to come out with it. With the idea in my mind and the help of Jeepforum.com for ideas this is what I came up with. Unfortunately, I can't find a lot of the pictures of the build right now but I have the final product and the first draft. I created a mold with foam from an art supply store. I covered it with foil and put several layers of fiberglass. Once that was complete I put a layer of Bondo and sanded it down. I then covered it with bedliner. All that effort = first draft. It was too bulky for my liking I used my dremel and cut away a lot of the top and reapplied fiberglass and bondo. This is what I ended up with. I'll work on finding the build pictures. Let me know what you think.

I can't figure out how to attach more pictures.

I liked that one too. The problem was the "Coming soon" part.

Gotta respect the Do it yourselfers! That's awesome. I do remember when you locked your jeep, I was still new here and it was an eye opener.
A snorkel is on my to do list for sure. Thanks for the cool post!!!

you don't like River Raiders? Snorkel? It's my favorite by far.

Love the build, I think I'll try it too. So, was there any damage when you hydro locked? How was dealing with the dealership?

why would the dealer fix it? not like its a warranty issue. hydro locked means new motor. I would bet the motor is at least 6k. just for the crate motor.

people go to fast in water. I seen the Video if its the same one. I have been through 2x that water and no hydro locked but then again i was in 1st LOw in rubi that does like 2mph in 1st low. It s not the jeeps fault. you created a tsunami in the front and a motor at wot or even half is sucking in air.
