what are your thought about replacing the air in your tires with Nitrogen. Seems like it is getting more popular. About $30-$40 to replace the air. "They" say better gas mileage and tire wear, but "they" do talk allot.
Has anyone ever seen compressed air pumped to 2450psi in a high pressure cylinder? You may have seen breathing air for USP use, but not ordinary air.
Have any of you seen dry nitrogen pumped in cylinders to 2450 psi? If you haven't it'd be because you don't work in the field.
Nitrogen gas is very cheap, very abundant and easily stored. I have my own cylinder in the garage. I use it to fill my bicycle tires to 100 psi only cause I don't have the correct hand pump. I use it to blow out the solvent when I rebuild a motorcycle carb or a lawnmower carb.
I work in the ind gas business. Have done so for 26 years. Nitrogen gas is great for many uses, but mainly for one reason. The gas has no moisture in it. This is because the cylinders are pumped using liquid nitrogen via a high pressure liquid pump, vaporized through a high pressure ss coil and pumped into a bank of 20 to 40 cylinders at a time to a pressure of 2015 psi at 72F. Some are pumped to 2450 psi at 72F. LIN is stored at -320F. Any moisture would freeze the ports in the holding vessels. Thus o moisture content and for numerous other reasons.
Ordinary air already has 78% nitrogen. Who in their right mind would pay more than .50 cents to fill a tire with n2? Crazy or stupid, one or the other. The military uses n2 cause of the reasons I mentioned above concerning ease of storage. These public forums are a joke with way too many talkers with little knowledge of what is real and what are scams.
Why is my Cherokee only getting 16 mpg? I ride easy, rarely ever mash the peddle and coast to red lights. The seats are uncomfortable and the cargo are and rear seats are too small. My '84 MB diesel wagon I sold for a '00 Cherokee was a much better performer in space, fuel economy, ease of repair and comfort.
And I didn't use n2 in the tires either!
For sale, 2000 Cherokee, 88k , very good cond, factory tow and maintenance records available. Will swap for a '95 E320 MB wagon.
Yeah, I guess it was too much to ask a perfectly innocent question about something I didn't understand in an attempt to try to learn something. Too bad I wasn't born with the "know it all already" chip that so many people on here seem to have.
Especially talking like that to someone who is a soldier. I don't agree with things our government does but I would never i mean never talk like that about a soldier. IN all honesty take your tree hugging hippy asss and jump off a cliff. Disrespecting a soldier wtf is wrong with you man.
When did I say anything about a solidier? As for being a tree hugging hippy - heh - obviously you don't know that Alaska is in very short supply of such individuals. Try looking over in California.
I don't see you puttin ur life on teh line for anythign.
I went down to the farm and got some methane for my tires. I thnk that I am getting better milage and I been told it will keep the thiefs away. The only problem is you can't smoke around the truck any more.

Uh, I did my 8 years in the military already. How about you?
well let's see you quoted hillbilly on his comment of them using nitrogen on the f16's then ranted about going over to overthrow a foreign government and ruin the region or something like that. Maybe you didn't mean it to come out the way it did but the way i'm reading it you basically said to a soldier he's going over and overthrowing a governemtn ruinging a region. Maybe you need to think before you say things because right now the way you talk you seem like an arrogant a hole. and the spring comment not really innocent question. "why would I take the springs off my 32000 dollar vehicle and therefore make it useless" don't sound like an innocent question to me. sounds like a smartass comment

Well, let's see - that poster never identified himself as having anything to do with the middle east - he said he was a crew chief and puts nitrogen in his jet's tires, and that's about it. There is no evidence whatsoever that he has anything to do with the middle east, I didn't say such a thing, or anything else about the poster. So, the jump to inferring that he is personally responsible for the government of the United States invading other lands is pretty large.
right now the way you talk you seem like an arrogant a hole.
Come on, tell us how you really feel. Let it all out my son.

Well, when one looks at the world with paranoia and the feeling that one has to be quick to jump on someone who one thinks might be insulting one's Jeep, or lifestyle, or hobbies, or manhood, or whatever it is - that's what happens.
I'm very sorry you can't see basic questions for what they are. In the meantime, what I have learned from my original questions about the springs is that:
a). Sometimes people replace springs when they do lifts, and end up with leftover springs.
b). Many Jeep people seem to have some kind of weird paranoia and/or unhealthy vehicle/self-identity thing going on that creates a strange filter on how they see things.
Come on fellas..........Don't argue over little ole me............By the way I have been in the Military for 17 years now.............I was in the first gulf war in '91.............I was in Somalia in '93.................I have recently done two tours in Iraq recently
