NEW V 6 or INLINE 6

When the 07 wranglers come out do you think the V 6 will give better gas mileage? I have an 04 with 23000 mi on it and am thinking of selling it and replaceing it with an 07. I have read the spects on the 07 and was hopeing to get better gas mileage with the V 6. I have been told that the new LIBERTY has been getting very poor gas mileage. any thoughts?
Thanks John Boy

what the hell kind of question is that..... I 6 of course! more low end torque
as far as gas mileage, i think the v6 would be better at that.

But i rather have a 5.7 Hemi V8 in the wrangler

Neither - answer a diesel.

MPG's on the 3.8 - I heard (on another forum - I'll try to find the link) 17/22
I6 16/19

Thats improvement ?

Fuel economy will be a wash. The V6 will be more efficient than the I6, but the extra weight of the JK overall will override any efficiency gains.

The KJ is irrelevant for comparison purposes - different engine.

it has been talked about, and has been done for like 3 years now, when you posted it 3 days ago, someone should have told you to get with the program

don't bash someone for not knowing that something exists, simply point them in the right direction.

They said the 3.7 in the Liberty was more fuel efficient than the 4.0 in the Cherokee
but the Liberty weighs several hundred pounds more so the consumer didn't gain
anything in that regard.

If they're sayin' 17/22, shouldn't that extra weight of the JK's bigger body be included already? I think they've already factored the extra weight in and are giving us a final gas mileage estimate. The gas mileage includes the extra weight of the JK, and is the gas mileage of the JK with a 3.8L, not a TJ with a 3.8L.

Closer to 700lb+; a 4x4 V6 KJ is 4000 or so, a CRD KJ is 4300 or so, and a 4x4 I6 XJ was 3300 or so.

It's funny. I think that the KJ looks smaller than the Cherokee, but it weighs heavier. Anyone know where the weight is comin' from?
