New stereo upgrade

Has anyone tried to upgrade their stereo in their JK? I have a 2011 Wrangler 4 door 75th anniversary edition with the infinity sound system. I trie adding Alpine speakers and couldn't do it with out adding an Alpine Amp and a Pioneer Head unit. The whole thing ran me about two grand and I still can't use my sub in the back. I plan on adding another amp and sub in the future. Has anyone experienced this?

This is confusing. If you replace the headunit you can bypass the built in infinity amp entirely. This will negate factory wiring and require splicing/running new wire.

You have to get the wire harness from crutchfield.com to wire into the factory sub, I think it's like 40 bucks.
