New Jeep Owner, joining the JEEP family.

Well been lurking for a number of months while I was searching for my first Jeep purchase. Originally I was looking at a JT (02-04) year range. But after getting a call from a dealer stating that he had someone interested in my Jetta Wolfsburg, I decided to go up and take a look. The only stick shift Wrangler he had was a 08' trade in which I got for a good deal and he even took my Jetta off my hands without taking too much of a beating.

Sorry I don't have any photos yet as I've been driving her every chance I get. Maybe sometime tomorrow I'll get the camera out and snap a few at the park.

Endless stream of ideas for mods and enhancements is more like it. Something about the Wrangler gives every man his concept of the "perfect jeep", and what that is seems to vary with the guy. But it doesn't cost all of your money. After a year or two you look it and realize you really did it --- until a new one catches you eye, of course. I predict that if you get your jeep out into the wild, you're going to enjoy it more than anything else you ever owned.

Every time I think my Jeep is done, something else comes along or get another idea that is a must have or needs improvement and the next thing I know there is another part on order. A Jeep is like a jealous mistress. It demands all of your time, attention, and money. In return, it rewards you with pleasure.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys. This will actually be the first vehicle that I would have considered modifying other then the motorcycles that I've owned in the past.

1222 I've owned a Toyota Tacoma for a number of years and I had that up in Hazleton, PA once. That's a good offroad area for both quads and vehicles. It was fun, I hope to get the Jeep offroad more then I did with the Toyota.

Oh Well, I guess I was wrong. I was just able to ride a new JK for 3 days. But it's not mine. The banks won't finance as much as they would in that past due to the news about Chrysler/Jeep. The sales guy said he had to call a number of other people also, in the past they could finance 125% the cost of the Jeep but now it's down to 80%. So since I was fixed on my payment, and what I wanted to put down I got my car back and they got their jeep back. So back to hitting the pavement looking for a Jeep.

If you are wondering why the heck the financial sector has brought this country and the planet for that matter, to its knees, it's because it financed to many 125% deals. I don't think that if you don't have any of your own skin in the deal most people won't take it serious. 20% down is a good way for a finance company to see that someone will be around to pay the payments. It's bad enough for a car to loose 30% driving off the lot, financing 100% or more is a bad way to buy a new car.

A former boss of mine used to say anybody who finances a vehicle is an idiot, period. He truly believed if you couldn't afford to pay cash for a vehicle you shouldn't purchase that vehicle. Some logic to this really....

Trust me, I didn't realize that is what was happening. I went in looking for a 2002 and they tried to sell me on a 2008 since they sold the 2002 that I wanted.

So back to the pavement of searching for a used Jeep.
