New '13 JK :)

I haven't been on the forum for a few years, it's kinda funny looking back at all my old threads now and remembering all trouble I had with the old '82 CJ. I had forgotten about most of those adventures, and that I had been looking for another old Jeep with no success. I guess the Jeep bug never went away, recently I just went ahead and bought a brand new 2013 2 door JK. Best Jeep i've ever driven, smooth, powerful, and clean. I'll have to do something about that last part. Plans are simple, lift it 3-4", black steel wheels and 35s.

but not cheep. at 3-4 in lift it wont be so simple too.

what gears did you get ? If it has the 3:73 going 35 is border line but doable. 3:21 wont be so good.

Lifts at 3-4 need to be complete.

35"s and 3-4 lifts on 2D make a great trail Jeep and DD.

Thanks for the info! I'll look into my gears, i don't think I have the 3:73s but I am not sure. Seeing a Jeep with a 2.5" lift and 35s here that looks great.. Might not need to go as high as I though. Especially if I have 3:21s, maybe i'll have to stick with 33s.. I live near South Padre Island, my offroading will consist of driving on the beach through various conditions of sand to get to the good fishing spots.

Man....seeing that reminds me that the base models just look wrong. The tires are rather tiny. Only reason it should be bought is for what you're doing...to immediately change out the tires

Congrats on the new Jeep. The JKs really are awesome. I absolutely LOVED my TJ...family expanded and got a '12 JKU Rubi...absolutely night and day driving differences. I miss some of the simplicities of it, but then I remember how much more quiet and smooth driving the JK is

With 33s and the conditions you'll hit, you really won't need any lift at all. And the 3.21s should drive 33s just fine.

I just picked up a '13 JKU and I absolutely love mine. Have never enjoyed driving anything else this much and I've had the opportunity to drive a couple of super cars and they still don't compare to how great it feels to drive a JK with the doors off and top down

I have a new 13 JKU and it drives great but don't get to drive much due to my wife has taken it over. I put 33" with DCII and it does great on and off road with out losing fuel mileage. Also I you need some wheel I have anniversary wheel that we took off jeep.

Congrats on the new jeep , I just got a Jku two weeks ago I love the thing I can't stop driving it and I finally had the top off the other day . I have the 3.21 gears and I wouldn't go any bigger than 33s , 2.5 lift

I have the leveling block. This will allow 35" tires if I wanted. That is the only lift

Nice jk. It's all I look for on a new jeep when I get one but just with the 3.73 gear ratios and in white. Can't wait to see the final product. Congrats on the purchase. Hope to be a jeep owner in the future.

Congrats, on the purchase. I can't wait for my JKUR 10 Anniversary Edition to show up. I like your choice of colour, black is one of my favourite. I opted for the new Anvil colour this time, and my 08 JK was white.

Looks like you're from the valley ! Go to Expert on 4x4 in McAllen they can lift your Jeep and they have a bunch of accessories in the store.

Thanks everyone. I'll check that shop out in Mcallen, but probably wind up doing my own wrenching, it's kind of a hobby. I found my window sticker, and I do have the 3:21 gears. Looks like i'll be sticking with 33's for now, but definately want to go with 15" wheels. Looks like the Cragar Soft 8's will do, 15x8 with 4" of backspacing, unless I find another brand with the 3.75 back spacing and a comparable price. Don't mind grinding a hair off of the calipers, I've done worse to new cars. Funny someone mentioned their wife taking over the JK, mine did the same. I had to go buy her a new Camaro so I could get my Jeep back.
