Need some build planning help

My buddy is on a plane back from the sandbox after 7yrs of service, his wish list is lift, wheels, tires, maybe bumper. He has a 07 jk. What are your thoughts on a conservative build with a $3,000 budget?? And the money is just for parts as I am going to install everything for him as a gift for his service. I'm thinking around 3" of lift and 33's. Also does anyone know any company that offer military discount? Thanks for the info as I'm not familiar with JKs.

On a side note if anyone in the Denver area would like to contribute on the install let me know, any help would be appreciated. I just want him to come home to something that makes him happy and to get started living a civilian life.

Just do 2.5 inches of lift. It will look more proportional for that size tire. Teraflex makes a great springs and shocks lift for about $700. IMHO 2.5 is plenty and avoids issues with break line extension and drive shaft angles. Sure, you can go higher but your reliability starts to go after 2.5 inches, esp on two door models. Buy some Rubi take offs (craigslist) and powder coat them black and throw the tires on them. Then, go pick a bumper. I like expedition one but they are a little salty.

you could also get the OME 2" lift, if you are going to stay with that size tire...I am super pleased with mine and there is actually plenty of room for 35s....
