I was talking to a guy who was selling his RBZ from a 2011 Ram. He swears it wont fit in my 2007 JK (different cables apparently?) but I was under the impression any high speed Mygig would work just fine. Can anyone tell me whos right?

I'm in the same boat. I read the sticky at the top of the JK forums but still have no clear cut answer. Even called my local parts dept and it took them 20 mins to get me a bogus part number.

I forgot to post up. I plugged it in and it worked just fine.

Do you have the part # you used? I'm so confused at the different models of MyGigs that I don't even know where to start looking for one (with Sirius)

Yeah, it's 5064879AG. I'm pretty much positive any mygig will work as long as its high speed.

Thanks a lot for your help; I've been so confused since buying my '07 JK about high speed/low speed BUSs that I can't figure out what will and won't work. I'd like to find a RBZ or Navigation MyGig system with Sirius integrated for my JK but was unsure which ones I could select from (based on ebay searches) as most of those are pulled from different vehicles.

Here's a new question. I was having problems with my RER locking up occasionally and finally got a disk a month ago and upgraded to the latest software. So far it hasn't locked up again, but I have had some weird things happening with the speakers since. The drivers tweeter occasionally will cut out and sometimes the entire passenger side speakers will cut out. It's intermittent and a bit random in occurance so I'm wondering if it could be a software related problem vs a short in the wiring. Is there anything in the engineering menu that could be adjusted? I don;t even want to get into it considering I could really f something up but thought there may be a setting to control output or somethign like that.

Thoughts?

Sounds like wiring / other issue than software or settings, i would start by simply checking all your connections at the head unit.

Thanks. I thought it was odd that it started up soon after the software update, maybe just coincidence. I know the balance/fader is all software controlled and thought it may need to be calibrated or something like that.

I am thinking about getting my Wife an updated map disk for her RER, got a notice from Jeep that I can pick one up for $150 for the latest version, but would like to know if it covers our street address - one of her major complaints about the original 2008 map. Does anyone have the most recent update that would be willing to see if they can find our street on it for me prior to me getting one?

Anyone ever consider a carputer? I just installed one in my 2010 JK. 100x the options as the mygig.

Here are a couple things my carputer does

Backup cam with night vision
Navigation (That you have the options to use different providers and up to date maps + satellite imaging)
Video DVR for recording your trips
GPS tracking
HD Radio tuner
satellite radio
proximity sensors (Haven installed yet but going too)
Hand free blue tooth with 10x better microphone (Has special noise canceling software and hardware)
iPod integration
DVD
OBD2 plugin. Allows me to see all my jeeps stats in real time.
Web browsing
Sincs with home computers
Displays weather and traffic on main screen
Climate control (Haven't installed yet but plan on it)
24 bit dac. Sound quality is way better then stock for many reasons.
Easy to customize skins
mini wireless keyboard
Tire pressure monitoring (Actually tells you the PSI in each tire)
Much much more

I could go on and on about carputers Vs head units/Mygigs.

With a properly setup carputer you will get unlimited options for about the same price.

2011 RBZ Update

Sorry if this has been answered already. I scanned the posts but didn't see a clear answer. I just bought a used 2011 Grand Cherokee with the RBZ (no NAV, with Sirius). I'm having the well documented problem connecting my iPhone 4 via USB & Bluetooth. I took it to the dealership referencing this and other forums regarding the update/fix. They said they saw updates for other radios but not mine. Can anyone confirm that the fix pertains to my radio and the actual version number. I saw the 2.42 or whatever but did not see reference to RBZ. I can't recall my version off-hand but think it was 8.something. I don't trust these dealership guys to know what they're talking about. Thanks for the help.
