As for the mics, which ones are best? I'll use the top plate mount position.

Don't have a backup camera yet, but for the mic, get the mopar one. I tried the coasteltech one and it performed poorly.

Agree on the Mopar mic have it and it works great. For the camera, I used one of the keyhole cams on eBay and mounted it flush in my bumper. Plenty of visibility, and since it's ner the hitch, good for seeing the trailer too.

It was fine after that. Also, I am assuming that your mygig came with your JK and is a high speed can bus.

Yes the mygig unit came with my JK. Only other thing i can think of.. do i need to set the uconnect to active before hooking the lockpick up?

Just installed mine yesterday on my 07. I bought P05064739AD which came out of a 09 Chrysler minivan. It was already updated to the latest rev of everything, and it was easy as cake to swap out. It even had a Sirius subscription activated!!!
Something funny I noticed when I first turned it on, the Chrysler logo came up, and then afterwards, it "knew" it has been installed in a Jeep, and from then on out the Jeep logo showed up. It also got the VIN number from the car as it shows it correctly in the setup screen. Creepy.

Yeah, I know. I can remove the hard top by unhooking a connector near the camera.

Couple questions:
I've got a '10 JK Unlimited, if I buy a new or used MyGig, are there any compatibility issues when plugging it in? I've read about different BUS speeds affecting regular head unit installation.
2nd, is the Sirius subscription tied to the head unit, of the equip that allows Sirius to operate? Will I have to reactivate it and lose my free year that came on the stock Sirius unit (has the single disc Sirius radio that comes as an option)?

You defintely want to make sure and get a high speed bus unit, and the Wrangler uses the CAN C (high speed) bus.
The Sirius reciever is tied to the head unti, so if you swap, they'd have to move your year over. I;ve found after going through 3 different radios that it's a crapshoot with them, some are helpful, some are not.

I didnt have the same experience with the Sirius part.
My JK came with the 6-disc CD + Sirius. Before I took it out, I wrote my Sirius number down. I then replaced that with the MyGig, which kept the same Sirius subscriber number.
I thought I read somewhere that the number was associated with the antenna somehow, not the head unit?

Defintely the head unit, not the antenna. I purchased my Jeep in July 08, came with a free year. When I got my 6 disc, it was from and older Jeep, and it's subscription ran out in April. Had to sweet talk them into extending it to July, which they did. Then I got my MyGig, and it had a free subscription until 10/8/2009, since it came from an 09 Ram. All 3 radios defintely had different Sirius ID's...

Here's one for the people in Canada. My 1 year free subcription with Sirius is finished at the
end of this month. I've enjoyed the mygig "Siruis traffic" all year, it came in handy many times.
I wanted to renew the satalite radio "and" the Sirius traffic.....thing is the sirius traffic (even
though i have had it all year is not available for purchace in Canada...yet.....i've had it all year
but now can't renew??? I called and all i can renew is the radio...make's a lot of sense!?*&%
Anyone up here in Canada have this problem? Did you figure out a way to get the sirius traffic renewed?
