Here's JK a thread called "popping out of 3rd gear", it's fairly recent but doesn't have a any really useful responses, but maybe if you bump it, it will attract some...

I still haven't ascertained if the first gear fix is permanent.

CRAP. I got mine back and it hasn't done it since. They replaced the 1-2 synchronizer assembly. BUT, I had it back 5 days and the check engine light came on. That never happened before.

BUMP. Is this fix permanent or will the timing gradually go off?

From my understanding it should be a "permanent" fix. For me, I've got a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, so I'm good to go as long as I have this transmission. I know the dealer I take it to now is pretty good with mod'd Jeeps so I'm hoping they'll continue to overlook them when I bring it in with D60's, 38's, etc.

Chances are, I'm not going to have any of my "drivetrain" left in another year or so.

Welp. As of tomorrow I will no longer be a jeep owner. ****ing thing just does not run. They replaced the CO2 sensor and now all it does is buck and stall. I'm done.

Yup. They have a few options for me to trade and they will give me the full value I paid back in October when I bought it.

Well, I bought from a Ford dealer. So I'll probably trade it for an Edge at this point. I need the 4 wheel drive for the winter. I'm going to feel weird not having a jeep in the garage. First time since 1997.

Say it ain't so!

You'll be back. I just can't believe you're going to trade a Jeep for an Edge!

It's ****ing done. And my Edge is pretty posh. And yes, you will see me with another wrangler some day. When I am in my granny panties and don't spend all day in my car.
The really cool thing, is to work with a car dealer with as much integrity as mine. What a great guy to make me whole after putting 11K on that thing.

Got my 08 out about a month ago. Hasn't popped out since. It was popping out a couple times a day. I've got 34K miles. They replaced the syncros (1,2 & R) shift tower, fork, TO bearing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The technical service bulletin just calls for a rebuild not replacement, had mine done, its been fine since.
