I have BFG Mud Terrain KM2 37x10.50r17m tires on Walker Evans 8.5x17" Bead lock Wheels with 2000 miles that measure 35 3/4" tall at 35psi. Is this the norm for 37's? Do most tires measure less than advertised? Thanks

If you've ever been in that traffic, you would have ground down the steering wheel with a death grip too. "Just ****ing GOOOOOO!!!!"[/QUOTE]

Its common to be about an inch off, however 1.5" is disappointing when you spend all of that money. That is why I'd avoid the BFGs in the first place. My 35" GT Grabbers are only off by 3/4", and that's measuring from the road to the top of the tire.
Don't Interco and Pit Bull tires measure closer to what is printed on them?
EDIT: Don't forget the width of your rim will adjust the diameter of the tire. In theory the manufacturer is quoting number for a rim in the middle of the range tthey say to put it on... but if you go to the lower or higher end on rim width your mounted tire will change footprint/height somewhat.
Actually I don’t think manufacturers give you the measurement of it mounted on a wheel. They are true to measurement un-mounted. So technically they are producing a 37” tire, “oh you wanted them mounted on a wheel?” Seriously though, most if not all are under what they claim when mounted.
BFG is notoriously small. Aside from that, they have no siping and have a weaker sidewall compared to other M/T tires on the market, which is why I tend to avoid them. They do have great traction in mud and slick rocks and their lugs don’t chunk away.
My stock BFG lugs are chunking... but way less than the Duratracs I had on my WJ, I guess it depends on the types of trails you subject them to. You are right about traction when things get sloppy and I have run them 37 psi on rocks and they did fine. Just don't air them down below 20 LOL
