Mr. Grill Grill Inserts

So I installed the brushed aluminum grill inserts by Mr. Grill this weekend. Just thought I would share the pics. Please feel free to comment.

Before:

I had to undo the screws that hold the grill in place and pull it forward:

And After :

The install was very easy. I just needed a screwdriver to unscrew the grill and pull it forward, and a small allen wrench to attach the grill inserts to the back plates that hold them in place. It took me about 45 minutes, but I was taking my time as it is the first (albeit completely cosmetic) mod that I have ever done. I think I'll tackle a re-gearing next

Btw: Sorry no click free. (Maybe someone else would like to help me out on that one?)

i had those on my jeep for a few months and got tired of them... I am changing out the look of my jeep

One word of advice - the screws will rust within a month. I would higly suggest to take them off and put a coat of paint/clearcoat or something on them or they will rust all the way through.

Thegillz: Very nice look, especially for under $30. I would have done something similar, but the inserts very a valentine's gift from the mrs, so you know.

Grant211: Thanks for that. I definitely don't want those screws rusting.

Yikes. Sorry about the huge size on the pics. I thought I made them small enough.

Edit: Problem solved!

Haha, yeah same here. Although the inserts were around $85 I think. Not bad considering that most of the fancy mesh ones I have seen are pushing $300.

Ditto on the screws. I had to remove mine and paint them. I have the black inserts (my jeep is "murdered out" lol), and now when I see a Jeep without something there it looks open, exposed and unfinished to me.

The do-it yourself grill inserts are a good money saving and great looking way to go too.

I just put on the black ones of these in a black grill. Christmas gift, along with Silverstar headlight bulbs. I just pulled the grill off and did these inside on the table. If I ever get pictures I'll post them.

I thought about taking the grill completely off. What else do you have to do besides the screws on top?
And as far as painting goes, should I just use black spray paint or what?

Yes, you have to take off the screws up top and the rest is a series of clips near the turn signals and across the bottom. If your not going to keep your grill, let me know I need a spare

Brent_f70: Thanks cluing me in on the way to take off the grill.
I didn't mean to mislead you, but I meant I was thinking about taking it off to make the re install of the inserts easier once I paint the screws. Not to leave it off permanently. I don't intend to drive around grill-less.
