I haven't been taking my XM radio out of my Jeep the last week. I had been moving it back and forth from my Jeep to my Motorcycle. It is just an XM Roady2, the whole set up only cost me $19 so I wasn't real worried about it. What moron would come up in my driveway to steal a $19 radio that would certainly be reported stolen and deactivated immediately.
I work nights, and weekends got home about 11:30 PM last night, went out after lunch today to move the Jeep so the wife could use her car and it was gone. I reported stolen to XM, they deactivated it and now it can never be reactivated, it is now useless..

Re Theft of XM radio
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
I know how you feel. Its not so much the value as it is just someone to darn lazy to go out and buy one for themselves. A number of years ago I had a brand spanking new Suzuki Samuri. Somebody stole it and I reported the theft to the police. Couple of days later I get notified that it was found and I got it back with some damage. Officers told me to take the battery out of it because they thought that since it was stolen from in front of our apartment they might come back and take it again. I did and they came back! They couldn't get it started (no battery), got Po'd and they torched it. Just plain low life mean.
I know that just about anything I get or do to make my Jeep (ordered, still waiting) theft proof will only keep the honest folks honest. If the pro's want it they will get it. I have since moved to a much nicer area but it can happen anywhere and I take as many precautions as I can.

You know you've hit rock bottom when the vehicle you elect to steal is a Suzuki Samuri.

Most people have no idea what a Satellite Radio is. Probably some kid took it..
I have been thinking of getting a Radio. Any comments on the system. Does it work well in the JK? Where did you mount the Antenna?
Cheers..

I didn't mount the antenna, I just stuffed it above the passenger side sun visor between the window and the soft top. It seem to stay there fine. Sometimes when switching it between the bike and Jeep I would just lay the antenna on the dash, worked fine there too.

I live in a decent neighborhood in a quite expensive area. (My neighborhood is the cheapest in the whole area but still pretty nice) I live in the far back of the neighborhood at the end of a dead end street, and right across the street from a police officer who always parks his patrol car on the street.
It certainly can happen anywhere.

I know the feeling of being violated by the low lifes when my window was busted and the only thing taken was a reuseable 20 oz. coffee mug. I don't know about the Suzuki Samurai vehicles, but I know that the Geo Tracker I had was a very good, stable and reliably vehicle. I just would not want to have had an accident with it. It seemed to have been made with tin foil, but I thought it was very reliable. Plus the 4 wheel drive system got me through some hellacious snow storms.
Just my 2 cents....

Sounds like a good excuse to switch to Sirius
Anyhow, you didn't mention any damage (cut top, broken window, etc). That's a bright side.
One of my friends has a newish Dodge Truck. A few nights ago the police knocked on his door in the middle of the night. Someone had gone down the street stealing gas.. not so bad, right? WRONG. they were putting pans under the vehicles and drilling holes up into the gas tank. Almost $1000 repair to steal $20 in gas. The punks got away too.

Sorry to hear about that..I have a question though, Can an XM be tracked kind of like a GPS ?? My thoughts were if you were to turn the service back on and some idiot powers it up, XM sends the police to where ever the radio is.....

Each radio has a ID# you have to call and get it to be activated. I would call XM and tell them you were riped off and when the prick calls in with your # Let them. Then you have there address and can go there with the police.

All they would do was make that radio invalid in the system so it can never be turned back on.

Actually I'm in Saint John's Florida off of Hwy 210,, but I moved here before they changed the name and for most things it still shows up Jacksonville.
When I moved in it was actually Samson FL, but the mailing address was through Jacksonville post office so the name Samson was ignored, and finally dropped, the Sampson sign was even been removed from 210.
Actually I don't believe it has officially been renamed Saint John's, I know both Randmcnally.com or mapquest.com still list it as Jacksonville. And I think there is a pending lawsuit stopping the name change.
But, after all that probably really close to you..
