Nice pics. When are you planning to install the new sliders?

I'm glad you like them! Let's go wheeling before the snow gets too low and I'll get some equally awesome shots of your rig.

I've tried reaching out to friends-of-friends to find someone who is qualified to do some welding work, but so far all I've gotten is a non-committal, "Yeah, maybe I could help you in a few months."

I'm also working on starting up my own business right now, so I'm trying to keep my cash outlay very tightly controlled. Welding aside, I also need to figure out whether I want to rattle can, bedliner, or powder coat the sliders once they're constructed. I know the pros and cons of each... just have to make the decision and find someone to help me do the welding.

And for the record, I'm probably judging you for your bad grammar or spelling.

Painting/bedlining might be the better option since they'll often be in contact with rocks. Easier to touch up and cheaper than powder coating. I can help with painting, but not the welding. It's been many years since I took welding courses while getting my A&P.

Quick question regarding plasti-dip as you seem to have some experience. Do you think it would hold up on hood vents? I am mainly worried about heat from the engine, and seeing as you painted your entire hood I though you may have some insight into this.

Do it. You'll have no problems. The only piece of advice I'd offer is to do something smaller first to get familiar with the stuff. I did my center console and it came out great. Make sure you get at least 4-5 coats of the stuff on, or you'll have a hard time removing it when it comes time.

Thanks for the input, I had actually been considering doing the bezel around my radio and heater controls etc, and was trying to do some research and stumbled upon your thread. Cool Jeep btw

I think I'm struggling with seasonal affective disorder. Ever since I put my doors on, I haven't been smiling while driving. It's left me feeling down and empty. Even two dates with a stripper and one date with a bisexual cowgirl this weekend didn't help me much.

That's an appropriate adjective. You meet some interesting women at the Grizzly Rose.

But all I really want is doorless weather for another week or two.

Next tinkering project: I got my Wolo Bad Boy air horn today. I'll be figuring out how to install it along with another switch; I don't want to replace my factory horn, just supplement it. :-) Pics to come, maybe.

I turned 19,000 miles today. And I did it while offroading on Bunce School Road. It was a beautiful day, and I had my girlfriend and best friend along with me.

Well, I turned 20,000 miles today and celebrated by installing my Wolo Bad Boy horn. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but there is NO ROOM under the hood of the '12s. My goodness, you'd think it's a Corvette from how tightly they jammed that Pentastar in there.

Anyway, I came up with a pretty clever mount for it, and I'll post some pics tomorrow. I will say that I'm loving the sound of the horn, and I'm very glad that I decided to keep the stock horn in place and wire up the Wolo as an auxiliary horn. It just works better that way.
