Mine turned out pretty good, I like it. I had the grille Line-X'd too.

This really finishes the grill off nicely , I used galv metal mesh painted flat black , scraped all the adhesive off the pads and super glued them on . Nice little mod .

I have been reading up on this mod, and poked around at Home Depot today.

Another material I looked at was the metal screen that you would put on your sliding screen door of your house. It was referred to a "Pet Protector".

It is a nice solid piece of metal screen w/ a nice look to it.

BUT, my question is does it have to be a flexible roll of material or can something more rigid like this work??

I don't know if it needs to be shaped to the contour of the grill, or will a cut flat sheet of this material work??

Thanks All

i bought a 5pack of gutter guards this morning at Lowes. They are metal. I plan to install them Saturday. I think I will leave the metal color and not paint them black. If I ever get an AEV hood the hood vents should match nicely. Since everybody on here that posted pictures used black, I'll post mine when I get it done so you can see silver

i've been reading about this mod for around 3 years now. still haven't done it, but want to when i'm not feeling lazy.
i saw the metal screen stuff the other day that masons use behind like stone veneer and that seems very durable. i think i'm gonna try that stuff.

cheers guys!

Beats the heck out of spending $250 for a billet grille, and looks just as good!

I decided to do this for the first mod on my new Unlimited. Well I had it lifted and have wheels and tires on the way, but this was my first DIY mod. I really like how it turned out. I used the metal gutter screen and painted it black with undercoating paint I found at Lowes.
