Lowering a Jeep

OK so my wife is really cool - loves to drive offroad, drinks beer, watches sports, pretty much my perfect mate. We have been talking kids in the near future and she suggested lowering the Jeep while she is pregnant and while the little one is too young to take offroading. I'm not sure if she is joking or not but I need some ammo to ensure this doesn't happen.

Makes no sense to me, most aJeeps are too low to start with, that's WHY we LIFT em!!! If you really want to lower it temporarily and will promise not to go off-road, you can put on a set of those super silly low profile rubber band type wheel and tire setups. This is if you can stand the laughter and mocking that will result. If you do this you could expect to DROP about 2" to 3" and about a $Grand.. Good luck with your decision..

Just please don't say that she smokes cigars too. Don't lower the jeep.

Do you have it lifted already and are talking about taking it back to stock? If so, cool, do it if that's what you guys want. If not, I see no reason to go below stock ride height.

I don't see a reason in the first place though, the kid won't be able to tell a difference whether you're putting him in a lowered, stock, or lifted jeep. Leave it how it is, and save yourself the hassle of changing something twice when nonce* will suffice.

* - Nonce: the equivalent of once for one and twice for two, but for none. Yeah, I made that up just now.

Put on side steps and that should satisfy her. They make some that even slide up out of the way even when wheeling.

I see no reason to lower it except to make it easier to get in, and that will be better addressed with the side step. Have her put a foot the step then listen for her to say "push" and then you shove her butt in. Then, when the baby comes, you can be in the hospital and you tell her "push"

The alternative is to make a low rider out of your jeep and prepare to be flamed.

It is not lifted - it is stock. The lowering is not for the kid but for my wife to get it easier.

Side steps... that's exactly what I think we should do. I'd be embarrassed to drive a lowered Jeep.

Is your Jeep the only vehicle you have between the two of you? If not, just take the other one when she's going along. It really should only be any sort of an issue in the last trimester I'd think, when she's really round.

My ex got in and out of a stock 2004 blazer with no issues when she was pregnate. I think it's about the same height if not higher than a stock Jeep. Don't lower the Jeep it will be mad and break things just to get back at you.

Bestop makes electric steps that come out instantly when the door is open and slide back like rockrails when driving.

Nobody mentiond AiRock??? you have to get it for your wifes sake (really for you) it will solve the "jeeps to hard to get into" problem and you can wheel it.
