I have done the searching and most things come up wondering on the road or play in the steering wheel. This one doesn't wonder or have play when turning. You can grab the wheel and there is an half in of play up and down, side to side. 2010 JKU, lifted, out of warranty.
What would be the the best way for me to fix this problem??
Been awhile since I posted a video on here so I hope this works.
Whatever is going on there appears to be in the steering wheel mount in the dash, that's not a suspension problem in any way... there might be other steering problems that led to this, but the problem in the video can't possibly be suspension related.
Not suspension related. Everything underneath tight. No shimmy's or wobbles just a loose steering wheel with air bag light on. Steering column doesn't move. Just the steering wheel like there is a loose nut right there or something.
there is a nut behind the air bag and horn plate that holds that wheel to the shaft. It must be loose. There is a bushing in there too for the shaft i would imagine. But my first guess is someone has been in there and did not torque it back right( perhaps say replaced the clock spring). But before you start disconnecting the airbags be sure to follow what ever is recommended for the system. To de-arm it.
So we literally have a loose nut on the steering wheel.

The wagon should, of course, be as light as possible, but strength should not be sacrificed to lightness, for on any but the regularly traveled roads, the wagon will get many a hard knock...
We bought the Jeep new. No one has ever messed with the steering wheel. It just got loose like this over time. I've been wanting to go in there and see what is going on. Just a little nervous about the air bag. After searching several forums, it's hard to believe I've got the only Jeep that has ever done this.
