Looking to help a friend / co-worker

A friend recently bought a 2011 Sport, without talking to me first, or really researching anything about the JK. At this point I'm not sure what axles he has etc... I'm looking into lift and tire options for him. I have been through all the research for my 04 Rubicon & now I'm helping him decide on a lift & tire combo & of course the install.

Does the JK forum have a specification thread? Like this one for the TJ's...
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/st...ations-452871/

If not could some one point me to somewhere that may have that info. I'm specifically looking for gear ratios and issues with 35's and automatics...

Thanks, and sorry if I overlooked a JK faq section.

JKowners.com is a very good resource for anything JK related.
The sport has a Dana 30 front axle which will not stand up to those 35's also i think those have 3.73's

Correct, they can come stock with 3.21's or very commonly upgraded to 3.73's, and even lower if the towing package was added.

Owners manual won't really help, but window sticker would answer all questions...

lots of people actually run 35s on their dana 30 front axles...I wouldn't say it won't hold up...you might have some issues if you lock it without chromolies, etc...but lots of guys run 35s on those dana 30s...

Sorry, I was looking for a faq like the TJ one, it literally had everything I needed to determine how big I could go with stock gears etc... Any way, am I getting this right, all auto sports are running 3.21 gears?

There are plenty of JK owners running 35s on their Dana 30s, the JK's 30 is not the same as the 30s used in the TJs, YJs, and CJs.

35's on Dana 30 is certainly doable. I have an ARB locker installed up there and haven't broken anything yet. Time will tell, but I have a trip to Moab, SW Colorado, and Northern New Mexico under the belt with that setup.
