Looking to buy. 07 vs 08?

I know a lot of times the first year of a new model there are lot's of bugs that turn up. Any major advantages of getting an 08 vs 07?

I've got 102k miles on my 07. No major problems. Mechanically no diff between the two. I'm sure as many people have problems with a 07 as do with 08, 09, and 10's. Get a good deal on a low mileage one, with records.

From what I'm reading on here it seems one of the keys is to get the 4:10 gears. I plan on going with bigger tires right away so I'm thinking I will need the lower gears.

That will depend on how big of tires you want to go.. Most folks will tell you 4.10 is not even enough for 33" tires on the 07-11...

I bought a Sahara with 4:10's limited slip, auto and tow package. I would tow anything with it but it does give you a higher rated alternator and I think a tranny cooler.

No, no aux cooler provided in any of the 07/11 JK/JKUs, unless a deal was made with a dealer and then they weren't free-

Even 4.10 gears are not advisable/w an auto, because they aren't even useful with the stock 32" BFGs-at least with the JKU !

You would be a little better off looking for an '08/w low mileage, then you can have a bunch of free TSBs done by a dealer-if they haven't already been done--

Good luck

08 is when they tried out the lifetime powertrain warranty. If its a 1owner 08 model then if anything did go wrong with it...they prolly had it serviced (records). You can buy a used one and have chrysler recertify it for like 379 buks and they will give u the lifetime warrNty back that the original owner had. They offered that to me with my 07 but i was moving out of country. I think certian rules and resrictions apply.....

If you have to get one or the other, get the 08 only because some "warranty" items will be covered. For example, weeping transmission lines are covered under 08's, but not 07's even though same part, same issue. They will not cover it for my '07. Personally, if you can afford it, get one within 3 years/36K miles so to take care of any warranty work. I am at 71K miles and have had about 4K in repairs since buying used with 44K miles 2 years ago, none of which Jeep would cover. Costliest mistake I ever made and will never make again, that is for certain.

Best of luck!

In '08, the tranny line trouble will be fixed free for an additional 70,000 miles, or 7 years, after the 3/36 warranty ends--(duh)

If the Recall J30 (hot-oil) hasn't been done, you can haveit done free and with negotiating skills, you can have the dealer install an aux cooler from MOPAR, FREE !!

The 4.10's with an auto on stock 32" BFG's aren't even enough for the 2-door!! Just a little less miserable than the 3.73's, but still geared too high.

Thats why I said 4.10.gears and JKU--

I'm sure you've seen posts by guys that have claimed "these new "LOW GEARS" are stupid, I've had 3.73 gears/w my 37" tires and they're great !

Guys that say"why did you use your 4wd on THAT ROAD" ?
I've doneit in 2wd--NO PROBLEM-

It's a jungle out there !

Yeah, great DOWNHILL.
Just my personal experience with the 4.10's living among hills. Someplace flat (mall parking lots), the 3.73/4.10's may be fine.

Wrong. 07 bought from August on had Unlimited Lifetime Warranty. I know because I've used mine a couple of time.
You can't get the warranty back. It's only for the original owner.
Where do you get your information from?
