with a 4 " lift you will need to replace the drive shaft. if you only want 33" you could do a 2 or 2.5" BB or BL and keep stock handling and fit 33" just fine i would suggest this route if you do not offraod much and just want a mean jeep its generally cheap and works well as a DD
a 3" lift will give you plenty for 35" as long as you have the correct backspacing
a 4" lift will take a lot more money to get everything needed to change other components so unless money is no issue i would suggest one of the other options. also maybe do a search on lifts in general on this forum and do a lot of research and searching it will help and there is a lot of useful information on here

you have a Dana 35 rear? Not many of those around considering they only did that for 1/2 of the first year of 2007.

If you wheel it, you're going to want a D44 back there. Definitely don't want to push your luck with a D35, 35" tires, and wheeling. I've see the result of that, and it ain't pretty.

..and you don't need anywhere close to a 4" lift to run 33's OR 35's. You have lots of options under 3" that will work with 35's and yield far less risk and involvement. If you're wheeling is going to be moderate, go with a 2.5" BB.
Why 35's on 17's? Nothing wrong with that, but you have FAR more (and cheaper) options for any size tire on a 16" rim - even 18's, but 35's for 18's ain't cheap.

If your JK really does have a D35 in the back, then chances are you might have the 3.21 gears - if you're lucky, you might have 3.73s. The latter might be OK, but anything taller than a 3.73 is NOT good for either 33's or 35's. You'll want to kill yourself.

he does have more options but he already is running 17 stock rims so if he wants to keep those i think that is what he is talking about
